This review is from: Keeping posted: One hundred years of news from the Washington post (Paperback)
Print media loves a centenary. Very few titles that get to a hundred ignore the fact and this effort from the Washington Post is typical: reproductions of covers or front pages and a potpourri of historical facts and froth from past issues.

The book is sectioned into year spreads with a front page on the left and selection from the year's issue on the right. Because the Post is broadsheet the book has a deep page size to accommodate the front page. Unfortunately it's rather a wasted effort because the book's paper is nothing special and the pages have been reproduced from Library of Congress microfilm (printed with a 133 screen) making nearly all of them unreadable, so half the book is redundant. Still, the headlines and sub-decks are OK.

It's down to the right-hand text pages to carry the book and they provide a pleasant overview of each year, mostly national events but Washington goings-on pop up here and there and nicely ads have been picked out and reproduced to give a little extra flavor to the times.

Because of the poor reproduction of the Post's front pages and the photos used to liven up the right-hand pages I don't think it's worth paying much for the book. Originally published in 1977 so any copies will be pre-used. Media folk will probably enjoy it most.
