5.0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to a great artist.
I heard Christina Aguilera's name several times, but still didn't know who she was.

Then in May, I finally heard a full song of hers (Ain't No Other Man) online.

After browsing her albums and the many version of KGB on Amazon, I finally decided to buy this and Bionic (Clean).

This was indeed a great introduction to the woman that is...

I bought this album from an independent seller, and my copy is the UK deluxe edition. For CD, the UK release has three more tracks than the US release: "Lady Marmalade", "Nobody Wants to Be Lonely" and "The Voice Within".

To me, "Lady Marmalade" is the only thing that makes the UK release special, as I would never buy a CD single, this is the only Christina album in which I can have that song. As for "Nobody Wants to Be Lonely", I'm also a Ricky Martin fan, that song is also included in the US release of his latest greatest hits album. But if you're not a Ricky Martin fan, and you don't like buying CD single either, this is also the only Christina album that contains that song.

About the 4 new recordings, I love 3 of them: "Keeps Gettin' Better", "Dynamite" and "Genie 2.0", but as they are all available in the standard US release, so they're not that special for this particular version.

the big flaw of this album is the missing singles like "Reflection" and "Can't Hold Us Down". I even think they should have removed "Nobody Wants to Be Lonely", for it's actually a Ricky Martin song, to include those two classics.

As for the DVD, it's same with the DVD from the US deluxe edition that is exclusively available at Target.

So just consider before your purchase, see if you really want it. For me, UK/Japan Deluxe Edition is the best buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to a great artist., October 2, 2010

I heard Christina Aguilera's name several times, but still didn't know who she was.

Then in May, I finally heard a full song of hers (Ain't No Other Man) online.

After browsing her albums and the many version of KGB on Amazon, I finally decided to buy this and Bionic (Clean).

This was indeed a great introduction to the woman that is Christina Aguilera. "Fighter", "Hurt", "Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You)", and "Beautiful" among others show her true vocal talent.

"Genie In A Bottle" - her first #1 is about Christina wanting a boy to rub her the right way. Even with that in mind, it's not as explicit as it may sound.

"What A G irl Wants" - this song is DEFINITELY what a g irl wants. Or at least what I want. Christina thanks her date for knowing exactly what she wants and needs.

"I Turn To You" - a great cover. Christina talks about turning to the person she likes in times of need.

"Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You)" is about Christina wanting a boy to come over and "play that game" with her. It's NOT the radio version, so the F word isn't censored.

"Ven Conmigo (Solamente Tú)" is the Spanish version of "Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You)".

"Falsas Esperanzas" is another Spanish song. I don't speak Spanish, so I don't know what it's about, but it's a great rhythm.

"Lady Marmalade(feat. P!nk, Mya, and Lil' Kim)" is a soundtrack hit, for the soundtrack of Moulin Rouge.

"Dirrty (feat. Redman)" - one of those songs where the title pretty much gives away everything. This song is all about starting a party at the club and getting "dirrty".

"Fighter" is a very upbeat self-empowering song. It's all about Christina breaking up with someone who caused her lots of pain, but in the end made her so much stronger. Definitely a song to listen to after a bad break-up.

"Beautiful" is, well, beautiful. It's all about loving who you are, no matter what anybody else says. If you're ever upset or feeling down about yourself, listen to this.

"Ain't No Other Man" - another song where the title gives it away. All about Christina loving a boy so much that there's no other man for her. (Then why does she have "lovers from past AND present tense"? ;))

"Candyman" is like Christina's version of "Sugar, Sugar". It's all about a boy she thinks is as sweet as candy.

"Hurt" is about the loss of a loved one. Will make you cry if you've ever lost someone before.

"Genie 2.0" is a very different version of her #1 hit, "Genie In A Bottle". I think the original is better, but you'll be the judge of that.

"Keeps Gettin' Better" is where Christina talks about some days being a super witch (although that's not the word she uses), then other days being this person's super g irl. And it keeps gettin' better.

"Dynamite" - basically a song where Christina wants her special someone to "electrify her all night", because "she won't fight".

"You Are What You Are (Beautiful)" is a different version of "Beautiful". Not as powerful as the original, it experiments with her lower range, but still very beautiful.

If you're looking for a good introduction to Christina Aguilera, definitely look here. Also listen to "Can't Hold Us Down (feat. Lil' Kim)" which was left out of this CD but was a great hit.

3.0 out of 5 stars UK/Jap yellow Deluxe Edition is a league above the awful original blue version..., November 15, 2009

17 tracks, including Lady Marmalade, are on the superior yellow UK/Jap Deluxe Edition version. DO purchase this import. DO NOT purchase the awful blue version. Check the ASIN code on http://www.amazon.co.uk/ and make sure it matches up. The Deluxe Edition also includes a DVD of most of Aguilera's videos, unfortunately the video for Lady Marmalade is omitted. I'm not entirely satisfied with this production of what could have been an excellent package. Please consider carefully before making this purchase.
