Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

The United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians in Oklahoma, 65 percent of whose members are full-blooded Indians, asserts that it predates the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and represents the real Cherokees. The Bureau of Indian Affairs recognized the Band as the only legal entity among the Cherokee Tribe, yet, the Cherokee Nation, 90 percent of whose members are less than one-quarter Indian blood quantum, usurped the Band's sovereignty. In a David and Goliath struggle, the United Keetoowahs battle for self-determination against their politically powerful and numerically superior adversary.

5.0 out of 5 stars To the Fans of Dr. Georgia Leeds:, July 12, 2011
I have not yet read this book, but I felt the need to share a sad piece of news with her fans on Amazon.
I was scheduled to be in her class on American History this spring when she had to leave for health reasons.
The first class is the only time I ever met her.
She passed last Friday, July 8, 2011 in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Her contributions to the uncovering of true native history will never be forgotten.
R.I.P. Doc Leeds.
