I've heard her name before but never had a chance to hear her music until i saw her performance in Newport Jazz Festival last May. Her performance was excellent; totally blew my mind away. Her piano background is classical, you can tell from the style and technique which is so precise and beautiful. Some jazz purist may not like her music but they just have different taste. After watching her in the jazz festival, I have bought all her 11 albums (sans the collection) and the video (where's the DVD?) I would recommend to watch her on show. It's a must!

Keiko Matsui is a fabulously talented pianist and songwriter that successfully fuses jazz and classical music like no other before her.

'Keiko Matsui Live' allows the listener to hear her improvise her music in a way that can only be done before a live audience. This CD captures her perfectly and I ought to know, I was there for the concert!

Simply put, breathtaking!

What I like most about this CD is that it contains many of my favorite songs written by Keiko. It is like having a "the best of Keiko" CD. This CD is great listening from beginning to end and would probably be a fantastic "first purchase" for someone just discovering her music. The sound quality is very good, despite being recorded live. It has a similar collection of songs as the VHS, Light Above the Trees, which I also strongly recommend.

I bought this as a birthday gift to myself and I must say - it is one of the best gifts I have ever received. My favorites are Bridge over the Stars and The White Gate. This music is so soothing. What a wonderful way to unwind at the end of the day or anytime you need to release the stress from your mind and body. I will be adding the rest of her CDs to my collection. Keiko has a true gift and is without a doubt one of the best pianists around today!

I have many of Keiko's recordings and love them all. But, Live tops the list as my favorite. Hearing her perform live is exciting, amazing! Her music always is so polished, smooth, Live jumps up and grabs you, the music is truly alive.

One reason I usually avoid live albums is one good songs, they don't leave well enough alone. They feel a need to make changes to the original rendition that usually leave me disappointed. Not so on this CD. Its GREAT!! Keiko spices up her original compositions while keeping with her signature sound. You'll especially love Bridge over the Stars, Forever Forever and Bonfire in the Piano. This will satisfy the true Keiko fan and serve as a "fix" until the next studio album. Enjoy.

For those you will not get the opportunity to see Keiko Matsui Live, this CD is the next best thing. I have been blessed with seeing her a number of times (she comes to the Detroit area atleast twice a year). BUT, the last time I saw her, it was different. Her music came alive. After the show, she signed my CD and wrote me a note. So, if you can't see her, get the CD Live and experience Keiko.

Keiko Matsui is a very special person. She honestly respects the gifts she was given and looks forward to sharing them with others.

It's difficult to classify Keiko's music. Like Michael Jordan on a basketball court, Keiko is gracefully able to compose and perform music that moves in directions that bend the norms of classification.

With her live CD, she adds swirls of evolving color and pokes of playfulness to her brilliant compositions. Keiko captures the worldly occurences and personal experiences that we often take for granted or quickly pass by. What she presents is something that will get the lively attention of you and any other person within listening range.

Not bad, but nearly enough piano for my taste, and way too much smooth jazz saxophone on some of the tracks. I wasn't familiar with her music before purchasing this CD, other than a snippet I heard on the radio, much edgier than anything here. I was hoping this live CD would be, well, a little livelier than it turned out to be. Unless you're a smooth jazz enthusiast and want something to compliment your Kenny G collection, keep looking.

Este CD es para oirlo relajado degustando un buen HUPPMAN SELECTO o MONTECRISTO 2 SELECCION ESPECIAL (cubanos, por supuesto,) y una buena copa de Brandy 1866.....para que se de un buen Bonefire in the piano.......

Keiko Matsui is one of the new femenine east stars that are making spectacular performances.....think about the magical violin of Vannesa Mae. This CD es for very special relax moments.., smoking a HUPPMAN SELECTO or MONTECRISTO 2, SPECIAL SELECTION (cubans, of course) and a good cup of spanish Brandy 1866.....you got the special spell for a Bonfire in the piano....
