5.0 out of 5 stars Classic tales of classic surf, July 14, 2001

This review is from: Kelea's Gift (Paperback)
Kelea's Gift resounds with the wisdom of surf legends, including the Hawaiian princess who abdicated her throne in order to surf. Half a millenium later, three young women known as the Sea Hags moved into a car in Westport, Washington, and endured the elements, to ride the frigid waters there. Other stories in this volume concern surfers from Duke Kahanamoku, the father of modern surfing, to Jack "Murph the Smurf" Murphy, an East Coast surfing champion and the world's most notorious jewel thief. Read an inspiring letter from surfing, sailing, gliding legend, Woody Brown. Tales run from Baja to Saipan and Beyond. Kelea's Gift is the view from those who have been there, for the last 500 years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Takes You There, December 6, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Kelea's Gift (Paperback)
Wow, I really liked it. Kelea's Gift tells an assortment of great short stories centered around the ocean and the coast. The stories take you right to the places, times, and people they happen to, and the stories are varied in the length which is nice - some take a few minutes to read, others take longer. Great for anyone in love with the ocean!
