The flavor if the Special K Nourish cereal is good. I like that the fruit and nuts are added after cooking, but the amount in each bowl is deceptive. By looking at the bowl, it looks as if one would get a decent amount of cereal, but instead, the bowl is less than half full when cooked.

This is the best oatmeal I have ever tried! The fruit and nuts are a real plus. The oatmeal itself is so thick and creamy. It is best to add boiling water instead of use the microwave I think. So add the water, then replace the plastic lid while it steeps. I think that is what makes the consistency so yummy. The portion is small as stated in another review, but there is something to be said for portion control. But it is so good, also makes you want another cup!

I too found that adding boiling water to the cup then capping while it steeps was the best way to prepare this. Having the toppings separate keep them nice and fresh. I found that I liked it best when I added a little bit more water than what they call for. Also, if you have some fresh or frozen fruit you can throw some of that in while it's steeping for a little extra yum! At first I was a bit upset with the amount of cereal there actually was when I opened it up, however after enjoying it for a couple days I found it to be the perfect portion and pleasantly satisfying. Very convenient to keep in your desk at the office, and a healthy 'fast' food breakfast at home for you or your kids! I do feel it's a bit expensive for only two servings, so probably not an everyday type of food....but still gets a thumbs up from me.

Flavor Name: Cranberry Almond
I am an oatmeal lover, especially in the Winter months, and I eat it at home during the week and when I travel on business at the 'Free Morning Breakfast Buffets'. I recently saw the TV commercial for these Kellogg's Nourish cereals while watching the Olympics and thought I would give them a try. I bought them at my local food store 'on sale' for $2.49 per twin pack. I bought the Cranberry Almond and the Cinnamon Raisin Pecan flavors.

I've tried both and the consensus posted here is right on the money, not all that good. Don't get me wrong, they are decent in that they are easy to prepare and taste OK with the nuts & fruit provided...but the whole time I ate them I couldn't help from constantly thinking..."This is not as good as the quicky version I make at home." What I mean by that is, I can take a flavored Quaker Instant Oatmeal in the variety packs...add some milk...microwave for 2-3 minutes...and then add craisins/raisins and some nuts that I always have on hand for making salads. These don't even compare to what you can get at the Hampton Inn breakfast buffets!

Initially, the big difference here is more in the flavor than cost. The Quaker brand is way more flavorful in any of their varieties...be it Maple & Brown Sugar, Cinnamon & Spice, or the Apples & Cinnamon...when compared to the Kellogg's versions and you get more per serving. If we talk calories, the Kellogg's Nourish are 190 calories per serving versus 160 calories for the Quaker version without the nuts or fruit. So I guess when you factor in 8 or 10 craisins and the same amount of nuts...I would wager a guess they are about the same in that department. Now I'm not a dietitian so I can't start speaking on 'calories from fat' and all that jazz because I'm clueless about that stuff...I'm strictly a taste guy!

Flavor Name: Cranberry Almond
I must say that I did not enjoy this cereal very much. I only purchased it because I had a coupon and it supposedly contains the trendy grain quinoa. I found this cereal expensive (almost $2 per cup) and the portion size very small, even including the cranberries and almonds. The taste was extremely bland and pasty in texture. I was expecting something heartier, like more on the lines of steel-cut oats or cooked quinoa. I made my cup in the microwave, which is not the preferred method, but I don't expect that letting it steep in boiling water would improve it much. I guess I'm not as much into convenience foods. I would much rather purchase a bag of mixed-grain hot cereal, cook it in a slow cooker and portion it out myself than buy this product again.

I have since tried the cinnamon pecan flavor of this cereal and it is much better tasting. It wasn't as bland and pasty as the cranberry almond, and the smaller nuts were spread more throughout the cereal so you have some in each bite. I cooked it in the microwave again, and it seemed to come out thicker. I would give the other flavors three stars, but I still think these cups are expensive for what you get.

For 190 calories, this is far from worth it. The amount of oatmeal inside is a joke. While the nuts and cranberries are good and fresh tasting, the oatmeal itself is flavorless. The consistency of the cereal after cooking is like glue. I do enjoy most of the Special K products so I was a little disappointed I didn't care for this. The one positive is that it isn't super sweet and artificially flavored. Won't be buying this again.

Container is large - portion is SMALL. Deceptive.
Container is larger at top than bottom - waste of my cabinet space & awkward as well.
