It has the feel of an oversized promotion of Slater by Quicksilver, and it probably is ,but it is interesting reading and has great pictures. if you are a pro surfing fan or just think Slater is worth knowing about, it is a good book to browse through. I grew up on the space coast of Florida at the same time, so I have always found his story and accomplishments interesting/impressive. It is well done. Seems like the stuff in the book he says/writes is a little deeper than I would have expected, which makes it fun to read, and you get a little of the human side of Kelly Slater. Worth the money.

Following up on his autobiography, Kelly Slater gives his readers a look into his life and thoughts of more recent. I got the book today and read the entire thing in a 5 hour sitting. If you like him, or surfing in general, you'll love the book. Slater has a lot to share and there is much to learn from him. Good contributions from people in his life like Jack Johnson, Pam Anderson, fellow Pro Surfers and more.

This book represents a chance to study the mind and behavior of the perfect surfer, some written by himself, some written by journalist Phil Jarratt, foreword by Jack Johnson. A few personalities have been interviewed for the book and the material complements the chapters, along with a series of awesome photographs of Kelly in action.
Rather than a biography as "Pipe dreams: a surfer's journey", "For the love" gathers a few stories and presents Kelly's point of view on some contemporary world issues including politics, spirituality, polution, family and surfing.

I gave this book to my brother, an avid surfer, for a Christmas gift. We had family from all over the country in for the holiday, and they all found this volume by Kelly Slater quite impressive. Even if you don't surf, Slater is an interesting person who has traveled the world and has seen more than the average person, including poor countries. The text and Slater's viewpoints are as phenomenal as the photography. A must for any beach lover or surfer! Where I come from, Kelly's a local; but he's a multiple world champion, famous all over the world.

Book is great, looks like a perfect gift for my surfer husband. Interesting layout, great photos and lots of interviews.

Beautiful book, with lots of great pics. My son enjoys reading it in bed at night before he falls asleep. He probably even sleeps with it under his pillow! He actually asked us for it for Christmas, when I had already gotten it. :)

Kelly Slater is the male me - he works hard at his art, he lives inside his head a lot of the time and he's tryin' to do the hard work of figuring out his place in the world beyond surfing. For me, he's a thinking woman's dream - athletic and evolved. I'm happy that he's finally found the 'big love' of his life, someone who makes him feel calm and just better.

This book gives you more than a glimpse into the world of Championship surfing.It inspires you. I've bought this book for several of my friend's kids in the hope that it will steer them toward their own passion. Sometimes I just look at the pictures and pretend I'm an ocean dancer like Kelly. I really enjoyed his beautiful story...Mary Kennedy Eastham, Author, 'The Shadow of a Dog I Can't Forget' and the upcoming novel, 'Night Surfing'
