Kelty triptease lightline cord is gold in color, about 3/32" diam., and is labeled as 1 oz for 50 feet, braided nylon, labeled with 188 pound break strength (didn't test), with lifetime warranty, contains a single reflective thread sewn in a X pattern, 4 Xs per inch of cord. Reflectivity with a flashlight is okay and functional. Note that the Viper Equinox is much better for reflectivity.Viper Equinox is a competitor sold by Campmor and others at much lower price than Kelty. It is also gold color, a little larger at 1/8" diam., has 3M reflective thread with 2 threads per X pattern, 4 Xs per 1.5 inches of cord. It is also braided nylon, model ELW401. It is about twice as reflective as Kelty. Also sold in 50 foot pieces. Another option is REI's blue, green, and white cord, that is braided, 1/8" diameter, single reflective cord sewn in a spiral dash with about 4 lines per 1.25 inch of cord. It has about the same reflectivity as the Kelty cord, but it also adds a glow in the dark feature that actually works for several minutes after a flashlight hits it. The glow in the dark white cords are a series of 4 threads together with 3 of the sets per inch of cord. Basically, the glow cords are about 75% of what you see on a cross section and the reflective cords are about 5%. This cord is about the same cost as Kelty. One additional advantage is that it is sold by the foot, so you can get a small piece or a really long piece.

Reflective lanyard rope,

My use for this is reflective lanyards for small gear items in a backpack or Bug out bag. Anything you may need to search for in low light situations, just tie a 8" piece of Kelty LightLine and it'll be 10x easier to find. Highly recommend for campers/survivalists.

Works pretty good.,

It's not like "laser beams" in the dark but does reflect enough light to make it more visible. It has prevented at least one tripping incident during a recent camping trip.

Great for lanyards,

I used to use parachute cord for my lanyards, but not any more. This cord is the perfect replacement with its smaller diameter it will fit in smaller gadgets and zippers on stuff that seems to fall to the ground in the dark of night. On swipe of the flashlight finds all my gear. However, if covert operation is you game, this cord is no for you.

Reflects very well from a headlamp,

The reflective threads in this cord are very bright if the light source is close to your eyes, like a headlamp is. Even a fairly dim 1-LED light in this position will make the cord reflect brilliantly-- I could easily see the cord reflecting from 15 feet away. The further the light is from that angle, the less reflection you get. Using a light held at waist level, the only thing that makes this particularly visible is that it's yellow instead of black. Can't speak to the abrasion or breaking strength since I haven't misused it enough yet. ;-)

This product works as described, it is very easy to spot from a distance in the dark with only minimal flashlight / headlamp illumination. This product is quite lightweight and strong; it also holds knots well. On the rear of the packaging there is a statement that this cord is not to be used for hanging a bear bag; I wonder why they felt it necessary to state this. Since purchasing this cord I have found offerings from other brands that are stronger and more abrasion resistant, however they are more difficult to find. Still, I am very happy to be using this product and recommend it to others.

The smaller diameter of Kelty Triptease Lightline makes it perfect for creating reflective lanyards for almost all of my equipment. I've attached it to my Swiss Army knives, created zipper pulls with it, and of course I've used it as reflective guy line on my tent.As a reflective guy line, it shines brightly with a headlamp or flashlight, and I had no problem seeing it at night. In nighttime pictures of our campsite, the Kelty Triptease Lightline blazed brightly in the camera's flash, and the gold color is easy to see during the day as well (even more so than the green reflective cord from another manufacturer that I also use as guy lines on my tents). I use this in conjunction with Nite Ize small Figure 9 and Nite Ize KnotBone when I'm staking out my tent, and both products work just fine with the Kelty cord.

I lead back country trips. I am a scout master, and guide back country trips in BC, Canada. Not always do I have experienced campers with me. Having this on my tents probably has saved them more times than I can count. It would be a bummer to try to sew my tent 50 miles out in the middle of no where. Plus, I don't want to take the chance on my expensive tents...

Kelty TripTease Lightline Cord,

This cord is a bit on the expensive side, but consider the cost to get your tent repaired after someone trips on your guy lines and make a big rip.I have used standard para-cord for my tent guy lines, and my friends and I have either riped someones tent or ended up flat on our faces after tripping in the night. This cord has reflective strands woven into the cord which lights up when you walk by with your flashlight. I replaced all the guy lines on all 4 of my tents and well worth the extra cost. It is also a little thinner and lighter if you are counting ounces in your hike light backpacking. Well worth it and recomended to anywone who cares for their tents. Ever searched for your food bag in the middle of the night hanging from that tree? You know where it is and need a midnight snack but you can't seem to find it. Use this cord when hanging your food bag and there is no problem finding it!

Great for tent stakes,

It's thin enough to slip through the small hole in my tent stakes. 5" lengths worked great. It also gives me something to pull on to help get them out of the ground. LED bulbs seem to work better at lighting this up than the old fashioned bulbs.
