After polling many Eagle Scouts working in various camping and sporting goods stores I found this pack to be the one most recommended. I bought it for my son when he crossed over into Boy Scouts. This pack is very well made, holds all the gear he can manage and things are easily accessible. Because of the suspension system it will grow with him into adulthood but is comfortable and fits perfectly on a smaller person.

This is an amazing backpack that I received as a gift. I plan to use it to hike the Appalachian Trail, and other various places. The backpack has many compartments and great adjustments to ensure comfort. The only complaint I have is that the directions are extremely vague in regards to getting the straps to the correct settings. Other than that it is overall a great backpacking backpack.

I have been a serious backpacker for over 30 years, and in that time I've seen a lot of packs. I've used external and internal frame from brands such as Jansport, Gregory, and of course, Kelty. I've seen others use many other brands. To date, the only backpack I've seen or used that was worth every penny is... KELTY (which I've been using exclusively for 25 years now). This particular pack (Coyote 4750) we bought as a gift for an outgoing Cubmaster, and he loved it. It's a great starter pack, and should be good for up to 3 day trips (if you are doing long terms I would suggest the Red Cloud series). I would recommend to anyone looking for a quality backpack to go internal frame, and to go Kelty. Kelty packs are extremely well built, are comfortable, and they stand by their product. Remember, you get what you pay for, and from Kelty, that means durability and quality.

It is a good solid backpack. I like the stout padded waistbelt. My sense is that it is most suitable for a large person (6ft+) because it is relatively heavy (empty) and has a large storage capacity. Two experienced Appalachian Trail hikers told me that they rarely carry enough stuff to fill the Coyote 4750, because that would result in a 40-50lb load, whereas they aim to max out at 30lb. Of course, others may see it differently. I like the pack, but it is probably too big for my needs. I'd be happier with something 25% smaller/lighter, but that's hindsight. The design is good.

Over all a Great Back Pack,

Bought this for my son. This year he goes from weeblos to scouts. It seems to be a great pack and if you do your research here on Amazon it can be had for $75.00 shipped to your door. Over all construction is well made and I like the fact that it can even adjust up to 22" torso. The only complaint is that the top is supposed to convert into a day pack. Instead of having 3 quick clip buckles for easy removal it has standard buckles. This part of the design was not well thought out but with a little ingenuity I can fix that without modifying the pack straps. I still give it 5 stars for price ,quality and fit.

This backpack is AMAZING for the cost. Almost everything is highly adjustable, which can be slightly annoying to set up initially, but once it's set, you don't have to worry about it again. Everything inside can be cinched down tight so it doesn't bounce around. The padded hip/waist strap was greatly appreciated by the end of the trip. The hips still hurt after nearly 14 miles of hiking, however compared to the rest of the group using other brand packs, I had no complaints. The pack withstood all the abuse I threw at it and it never faltered. Stitching seems sturdy and the zippers all work wonderfully even when under stress. If for some reason this pack is destroyed (read: eaten by a bear) or stolen, I would definitely buy the same pack again.

I got this backpack for my 11 year old son for scouts. I can tell this a quality built pack and will grow with him for a long time. Highly recommended.

Great Pack,

This pack is very well made. It was highly recommended on severl sites for a growing boy scout and we see why! My son is 13, tall and skinny. This pack adjusts to fit him very well with plenty of room to grow. It is also light weight enough that when loaded it won't be to heavy.
