3.0 out of 5 stars Hardly a 20-degree bag, but still nice and lightweight for backpacking, July 26, 2011

This review is from: Kelty Light Year XP 20-Degree Climashield XP Sleeping Bag (Sports)
I don't want to knock this bag too much, because it's very lightweight, compressible and versatile for backpackers. The material is sturdy, dries fairly quickly and is incredibly comfortable. Having a foot vent is great and the sizing of the bag was perfect. However, a 20-degree rating is just ludicrous. I've used the bag for one weekend where the temperatures were in the high 20s and low 30s and this bag did not hold up. I had to layer up with an undershirt, thermal and a fleece to ensure that my body stayed warm. The bag is definitely usable for spring, summer and most of the fall depending on your location though, so I'm still happy with my purchase. If you're planning some cold weather backpacking, I suggest another bag.
