This bag is great. The only reasons it got a star knocked off were- I would like some more of the internal pockets to be zippered, and it could be a smidge bigger (for the 1500).

Pros are: it's insanely light. Turns out this makes a big difference. I had a north face surge, which was a cool pack, but the dog chewed it up. I really didn't feel like spending another $100 on it, so I bought the Riff. I like it more than the super expensive north face. It's more practical and MUCH lighter. I can't believe what a difference it makes. It's awesome.

Definitely recommend this for a student or as a carry on bag. The laptop sleeve is nice and secure, and the pack holds all of my books for law school- they're HUGE, too.

You can't really go wrong with a Kelty. I love my large multi-day Kelty pack, so decided to turn to them again for my laptop/overnight bag. I've found multiple uses for this bag. I wear it when I'm biking. It is very comfortable and handy to put my iPod in the top of it with a cord exit. I can fit all my groceries in it when I bike to the store and this is the only thing I take on 1-2 day trips. My water bottle and cell phone are easily accessed in the side mesh pockets. It stores my laptop securely and I can fit a couple sets of clothes in it at the same time. You can fit a ton of stuff in this thing - it just keeps expanding as you need. The front pocket is great for your extras, too. It is a very secure pack. One time I got home from the store and realized I had forgotten to zip the main pocket, but much to my relief - due to its nice construction - nothing had fallen out.

Very nice sturdy backpack. love the color too, and it is really comfortable with good back support. Exactly what a college student who rides their bike everywhere needs! holds all my stuff but doesn't hurt my back.

I've used this pack daily for 1.5 years, and its held up very well. No rips, zippers still perfect. I like the straps across the back, as I can strap on a bike wheel, or a skateboard. Only issue is the color (Maroon and tan) has sun-faded a bit. I have bought a second one to replace this when it finally goes. I recommend it highly.

Nice quality, YKK zips, etc. Very, very comfortable. The only downside is that the laptop compartment could use just a little more padding. Looks great too!
