3.0 out of 5 stars
Fine on swivel mode, not on locked,
This review is from: Kelty Speedster Swivel Deuce (Sports)
We bought this stroller because it has a height adjustable handle. It fits my tall husband (6'4")quite well. The way it handles is 4 stars on swivel, but aesthetic reasons plus the folding process knock it to 2. So, 3 stars overall. If you don't need to fold it ever, then I'd say it's 4 stars for you! The pros are that I can jog on swivel mode (I'm not fast), it was easy to put together, the harness is comfy and easy to use, the sunshade is awesome and goes down quite far, and it fits my 3-year-old (38 lbs., 40 inches) with room to grow. It also perfectly fits my 19 month-old. I plan to use it for the newborn too once he/she is old enough to hold up own head, in walking mode.
The cons are that the footrest is cloth-like material (with some white near it) that could get dirty. The black material in the seats collects dust. There are not independent sunshades for each child, the footrest is narrow, and my 3-year-old has his feet hang slightly off the side. In locked mode I COULD NOT TURN the stroller by pushing down on the handle (whew, it was tough and I tried!). My husband tried and he could not turn it at all. We couldn't go even 5 feet it was so tough! I am going to say based on our experience that it's totally not usable in locked mode. A serious runner, then, has a problem. You can push your foot onto the back bar to 'pop a wheelie' if you must turn on locked mode and are strong, but that only works for a sharp turn. Folding/unfolding is not the easiest. It involves a lot of bending over and unhooking lock clips, and some parts look dangerous for fingers. The basket snapped off the last time I unfolded it. Be careful when you fold/unfold. My biggest complaint is that when folded, it does not stand up. It can rest on the handle and back wheels, which takes up space and could damage the handle. Unfolding it, you have to sort of throw it in an upward motion. That's dangerous with the kids around. It's not very hard, though. The sunshade, when not in use, is a bit floppy and sticks up high, which can slow you down for sure. In addition, the bug/sun/rain nets go over the footrest, so since my child's feet hang over a bit, I don't see how those would stay secured unless you had kids under 2 in it. Also, the fold/unfold process is sloppy in that I worry about scraping the stroller on the ground. A rear tire went flat three days after we owned the stroller. Note we could NOT get the bug net to fit, and it left a huge gap above the kids' heads. The weather shield looks like the same design. But, considering we needed a stroller that worked for tall parents, and that the swivel mode is easy to push for jogging, this stroller works for us. I would never take it to a mall, just for jogging or walks in the neighborhood. No jogger is lightweight, but this one is quite light for a double. This stroller is a keeper for us. We've tried them all! Kelty has a lifetime warranty. That's great, just keep in mind you pay shipping to send anything back for repair/replacement. Then they send you something back for free. Sending a jogger through the mail is not cheap. We did send our bug cover back as it was light. 2115|R1ITNQF1IBFM61;
