Awesome backpack!!!, December 9, 2010
This review is from: Kelty Women's Redwing 2500 Backpack (Sports)
I ordered this bag on Thursday and by Friday evening it was sitting on my front porch. I was leaving on Saturday morning for a trip down in the mountains and was excited to be able to take this bag with me. I got the blue one which is such a great color. Not as bright as shown on here. I love the fact that the waist strap is removable (although it is hard to remove). It is fastened by a huge strip of velcro, which helps keep it secure when using the waist strap. I packed up all my electronics in here to take with me. It fit a 15.6" computer in it plus books and various other things. Once I got down to southern Virginia, I packed it up for the hikes that we took while there. It was super comfy for the couple hour hikes I went on. It was snowing and it kept everything nice and dry. I also bought this to use for school. Can't wait to see how it does next semester!

A solid pack for work and play!, December 15, 2010
I purchased this pack in anticipation of some upcoming international travel. I will visiting a few different locations - but will spend roughly 10 days in each spot. This pack will be my airline carry-on. When I arrive at my destination, I think that the pack will be easy to manage on the ground with a small-wheeled suitcase. I believe that this arrangement will be comfortable and easy in train stations, hotels, buses, and airports, where you often have to dash long distances or go up and down staircases.
Given its dimensions, you could probably store this bag "under the seat" in front of you on a plane - but it would definitely use all of your legroom. It's not big enough to be the only bag you'd use on a trip of the length I am planning.
I selected this pack primarily for the price and because it has a large central component that is easy to access. The zippers feel strong and the material is nice. The "bluebird" are a little more pastel than the picture indicates. The straps have nice cushioning.
The bag is a nice size without feeling unweildy. I imagine that it will suit my needs nicely and comfortably store a jacket, change of clothes, pajamas, toiliteries, reading materials, electronics, water bottle, and an extra pair of shoes. It would comfortably store my 13" laptop in a sleeve and other electronic devices and their cords. It is a little too big to carry around for a day of casual sightseeing -- I'll prefer a smaller bag or purse to tote my map, wallet, camera, and other essentials.
I was on the fence about whether I should order a pack specifically designed for women. The pack fits my proportions nicely, especially the waist belt (I am 5'5" and have a short torso). Just for kicks, I had my husband try it on and it seemed to fit him nicely (6'2").
I'll have a better sense of the product's design once I pack it up and try it out. But I am pleased with the item.

Great quality, perfect size for wknd trip, March 8, 2011

I don't normally bother reviewing things except this backpack is just too awesome not to talk about. It's the perfect size for a weekend trip and fits my 17" laptop just fine. There are enough pockets to sort things and the zippers are great. They never get stuck and work smoothly. It's not too heavy (I HATE heavy backpacks) and has enough padding and adjusts nicely to fit my back. I love it so much that I bought two other ones for family.
