IF YOU ARE INTO SMOOTH RELAXING MUSIC WITH GOOD LYRICS...THIS IS THE CD FOR YOU. I FIRST HEARD THIS ABOUT KEM WHILE IN CHICAGO, THE SONG "LOVE CALLS" WAS ALL OVER THE RADIO. THE CD HAS A JAZZ/R&B FEEL TO IT. THE CD HITS ON LOVE, SOCIAL ISSUES AND THE SPIRIT. I JUST HOPE THAT MOTOWN DOES THE BROTHER SOME JUSTICE ON THE PROMOTIONS. MY THOUGHTS ON THE CD:

3.0 out of 5 stars A New Twist???
Kem is a new Motown cat with a distinctive new sound. Well not new just different from most contemporary music today. Essentially he's a jazz singer when you break it down. Listening to his CD is like an extended set of the "Oasis After Dark". He released this CD on his own a year ago and after sellin 10,000 copies he managed to get the attention of Motown. Listening to...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Kemistry, February 25, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Kemistry (Audio CD)
This cd is a must have. I became familiar with Kem in the summer of 2002. I heard his cd Kemistry on a radio station in Detroit. His sound is very much like Al Jarreau.
This brother from the Motor City is truely awsome. From the first song to the last song this cd will not let you down. Now his cd is being released on Motown Records. I had the pleasure of going to his cd release concert in Detroit on February 25, 2003.
Not only does his cd sound good but he is excellent in concert.

Many great artist have come out of the Motor City and now we have another rising star.

After hearing "Love Calls" on the radio, I had to hear more from this gifted vocalist. At first listen, I could hear the purity and the many dimensions of that VOICE, which is soothing, smooth like 18 year old Appleton, seductive, and playful. Kem is not your ordinary run of the mill singer but an extraordinary song stylist. His voice dips and dives, rounds syllables (much like Al, Anita, & Phyllis), scats, and just downright croons.

After getting ahold of Kemistry I was not dissappointed, rather joyous of the fact that I owned a solid musical experience. This is adult music at its finest. The ambience is intimate and jazzy. The instrumentation is also complimentary to Kem's vocal prowess. There are also nice percussive elements that add to the vibe of the cd. My favs are "Love Calls, Brotha Man (lyrics are beautiful), Inside, and This Place."

There's not much else for me to say about this product other than get this cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kem Kemistry is at the top of his class, November 5, 2004
This review is from: Kemistry (Audio CD)
This Kem Kemistry recording is so smooth, all the songs are great hits, and his voice is so rich and deep. His voice is similar to that of Al Jarreau, which is a high compliment because Jarreau's voice is like a musical instrument and, of course, includes lots of experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars "A PERFECT COMBINATION", July 19, 2003
This review is from: Kemistry (Audio CD)
True music fans...may I have your attention please..If you do not own this cd by now..I asked that you order it, right after you read my review. This is truly a mixture of great vocals, production and style like I have not heard in sometime..Imagine the voices of Marvin Gaye, Maxwell, and Al Jarreau mixed together...Extraordinary! and that's what you have here with "Kemistry" the new cd from KEM-The cd opener "A Matter Of Time" is both jazzy and hypnotic balladry with Kem adlibing and scatting throughout this Al Jarreau-like track. Kem brings stylish vocals on the gem "Inside" awesome background vocals, sounds like he used the British R&B group Loose Ends on this mid-tempo groove -definitely a pleaser."I'm Missin Your Love" this is pop, R&B, 60"s soul with a little dash of Marvin Gaye style all rapped up in one -Loved it. The single from this cd, the sexy bedroom ballad "love Calls" is a bonifide classic-you want romance? play this for that special someone in your life and you'll get it. Another showstopper is the bouncy yet mello "Brotha Man" powerful vocals flow on this inspirational, uplifting tour de force from the beginning to the end, the scatting is amazing. The Artist KEM...The cd "KEMISTRY"."Cherish This Moment"..because the cd is amazing...you can buy it now....enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best CD In Long Time!!, March 11, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Kemistry (Audio CD)
Kem sounds like a cross between Al Jarreau and Jonathan Butler taken to a level that they have never achieved. This young brother will blow you away with this no frills performance. It took me two listens to realize what was so unusual about this in-your-face performance. There are no background vocals, or stupid overdubbs, and you don't need or miss them. The third track on the CD entitled "Say" just blew me away. The rest of the CD will do the same. This is a "must have" and is coming from someone who listens mostly to jazz.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sounds like we all agree....just terrific!, April 2, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Kemistry (Audio CD)
I first heard the song "Love Calls" while I was driving in my car too in the New Work area and I could't wait for the DJ to mention who the artist was. My only concern when buying this CD was that "Love Calls" an extremely smooth, relaxing, fabulous romantic song was going to be the only good song on the CD. So many times you hear a great song like that and then you buy the CD and its like "yuck" you get these heart palpitating rap songs (not that there's anything wrong with rap mind you) that don't go with the the main slow groove song that you bought the CD for....you know....nothing else goes with the song and you end up abandoning the CD. NOT THE CASE HERE!.....this is a wonderful CD from start to finish and all the songs go together beautifully like one smooth melodious, jazzy, groovin sexy feeling CD.....yes he does have an Al Jareau sort of sound, but also very loungy sounding too. This CD makes the perfect backdrop to a romantic evening or even just a cocktail party or simply for your own relaxation. It has a sophisticated sound that will make you look very cool to everyone you know when you put it on your CD player. But what I wan't to know is who is "Kem"? If anyone knows anything about his background please share, he is very talented.
