5.0 out of 5 stars A Must for Any Titanic Library
I discovered this wonderful book at a Titanic Historical Society convention and it is one of my most prized possessions of all my books on the subject. Ken Marschall is not only a foremost Titanic historian, but a maritime artist of great talent. Like many, he fell in love with Titanic legend as a child and his passion for art soon combined with his passion for the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful renderings of Marschall's familiar Titanic art
Perhaps last on the Titanic bandwagon is this beautiful picture book of Ken Marschall's paintings. Marschall is not only the premiere painter of this great ship [and other ships as well] but, in his introduction, James Cameron admits that he was inspired to make his film by a desire to do on film what Marschall had been doing for years on canvas. Many of the...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must for Any Titanic Library, May 21, 2002
This review is from: Ken Marschall's Art of Titanic (Hardcover)
I discovered this wonderful book at a Titanic Historical Society convention and it is one of my most prized possessions of all my books on the subject. Ken Marschall is not only a foremost Titanic historian, but a maritime artist of great talent. Like many, he fell in love with Titanic legend as a child and his passion for art soon combined with his passion for the "unsinkable" ship. This book is a presentation of his love, from art he did as a young boy, to his later paintings. There is art of Titanic in her moments of grand triumph when she was the "ship of dreams" -- and then heartwrenching ones of her in her final moments that freezing April night. We see detailed, haunting Marschall works of how she is now in a watery grave, based on photographs taken by Dr. Robert Ballard, the oceanographer who discovered the wreck site in 1985. Near the book's end, however, is one of my favorite Marschall drawings, one of a scene that never happened, a beautiful Titanic entering New York harbor as her maiden voyage ends. This alone is worth the price of this magnificent book that belongs in any Titanic buff's library.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Titanic must-have, June 20, 2000
This review is from: Ken Marschall's Art of Titanic (Hardcover)
Ken Marschall has become the definitive artist of the Titanic, and his art has the reality of the photographs we so often lack. This book includes much of his Titanic work, including his very first painting of the great ship, and as a bonus includes some of his other liner artwork, of the Lusitania, Mauretania, Queen Mary, Normandie, and the Andrea Doria, as well as Titanic's two sisters Olympic and Britannic. The Titanic was simply the most beautiful ocean liner ever built - her lines are absolutely perfect - and Marschall captures her with love and respect. Very highly recommended.

This review is from: Ken Marschall's Art of Titanic (Hardcover)
Ken Marschall reveals a stunning display of beautiful Titanic artwork AGAIN!!!!!!!!Ken also shares with ushow his interest started with Titanic and his amazing paintings. Packed with excellent imformation, but do not get this if you are a beginner historian on the "unsinkable ship", stick with books that you could learn until you're up to my and tons of other's levels of Titanic knowlede on the ship.

5.0 out of 5 stars I am so glad I bought this book, September 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ken Marschall's Art of Titanic (Hardcover)
.
The irony of Titanic's doomed opulence comes through to me much more clearly than Cameron's movie or in photo books. There the Titanic is, in Ken Marschall's equisitely painstaking renderings, steaming off proudly . . . into symbolic sunsets and increasingly icy waters. Marschall provides the atmosphere; we readers can't help but add the foreboding.

I fully believe KEN MARSCHALL'S ART OF TITANIC is well worth its price, and indeed might be considered as a gift not only for adults but for motivated pre-adolescent children along with 882 1/2 AMAZING ANSWERS for the nuts-and-bolts of life briefly lived aboard the Titanic.
