Sir William Roache MBE Please!,

This review is from: Ken and Me (Hardcover)
It is rare that an actor like William Roache would stay in the role of Ken Barlow so long. In fact, he is the longest running British actor in the long-running British serial, Coronation Street. Besides his colleague, Eileen Derbyshire, he has been an original player since 1960. This book is largely about his life as an actor. It is also about his relationships with co-stars like Betty Driver MBE who is the godmother of one of his children. He talks about his marriages and the show's history. You have to wonder why he doesn't leave the role for bigger and better opportunities. THe truth is that the book stops before he gets his MBE. Ironically, stars like Lord Laurence Olivier and Sir Ian McKellen were fans of the show itself. I hope that he would consider an updated version which would include his MBE and his current role. He might be the paternal figure of Coronation Street now but he wasn't always. This book is a must for Coronation Street fans everywhere.
