Okay, so I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan, and Legolas has always been my favorite character. The Toy Biz Legolas action figures have been great, but their dolls have been, well, ugly. I thought we'd never see a Legolas doll that actually looked as good as he did on film.
Well, "Ken as Legolas" will help you get over the ugly dolls of the past. This one is a piece of art -- thank you, Mattel, for getting it right! The Legolas doll is even better in person than it appears the in the photos. Okay, so it does look more like Ken than Orlando Bloom, but at least he's got a pretty face... not to mention long rooted blond hair and, oh yes, the pointed elf ears! The costume is extremely detailed, and very accurate to the film. The accessories, consisting of a quiver, bow & three arrows, are even better. The sturdy box is beautiful, with a great photographic background appropriate for the Woodland Elf. It's consistant with all the Fellowship of the Ring packaging done to date, so it will fit right in with the rest of your LOTR collection. I can't comment on how the doll looks or poses out of the box, because mine is staying in. It just makes too beautiful of a package... maybe I'll get a second one someday and find out. There is mention on the box of a doll stand included, but it is not visible from the outside (a big plus). It's hard to imagine a Legolas doll looking any better, especially for this reasonable price (for a collectible doll, anyway). Yes, they could have made the materials of the costume more deluxe, or sculpted an accurate likeness of Orlando Bloom. But I am happy with this one, and I think you will be, too.

At the wonderfull sale price of $20 I gave this Legolas to my 5yr old daughter for her recital. It is a great doll and really just as durable as any Ken would be. She loves the Fairytopia line and in the movie they have a guy but they never produced a doll. She always complains that there are not enough men to marry the Barbies, so the price was right for a play addition.
Since we have watched the LOTR movies she knows about some of the charachters. She also has the Toy Biz Arwen, so it was a natrural to give her cousin Legolas. The doll is fully poseable with a "My Scene" body in smaller scale (I wish all Mattel Kens came this way). He will probably end up marrying a Barbie and having Happy Family babies. Not the manliest of pursuits but it sure beats bedding down with Gimli! The doll is very nicely detailed and the face is amazing, doesn't look much like Orlando Bloom, but still very wispy elven none the less. The costume is a bit better than what you would expect from a prince Ken, and the silver undershirt is separate and so are the boot keepers (I like that), which adds to the upgrade on the doll. Real boots also add to the authenticity of the outfit. As for the weapons, the bow looks quite delicate like the sting will pop off easily and the arrows are very thin. Oh well those can go in a drawer until he needs to go hunt an elk in Fairytopia to put food on the table! Overall a great doll to play with, don't leave him in the box, Legolas just gets to be more fun if you pair him with a Barbie and play house.

Sigh, if my old Barbies had only had Legolas to play with when I was going up!! The details of this dolls is simply amazing. Right down to the smallest stitching on his costume. The doll captures Legolas' Elven look, yet is so masculine. I really feared they would futz up this doll, but they came through.
I great addition to the LOTRs set from last year and Galadriel from this year. They are wonderful display. Great Birthday or Christmas present and at this price you better snap them up quickly.

My husband purchased this doll for me for Christmas. He is a real stunner. They did a great job making him look just like the character in the movies. He is one of the few I display out in my living room. This is one I will keep forever.

I finally received my Legolas and I was immediately blown away. I must say Mattel put great effort into making him look elvish and ethereal. He is simply beautiful.
Ive already taken him out to examine him closely. His bow is beautiful. He has three arrows which will fall out of his quiver. I suggest you get him many more arrows to fill his quiver. His clothing is authentic to the movie. I do wish they had given him his knives though. His ears are perfect, they sit against his head well and do not stick out as Orlando Bloom's did. His body is partly a My Scene boy doll body, but the arms hands and legs are better sculpted and shorter than the my scene. My only complaint and not a serious one is that if you undo his braids you will realize his hair in front is much longer than the hair in the back. However clever styling will minimize that effect. All in all I love this doll. I give him a full five stars. Buy him! Buy two! you will love it.

I got this doll more because of its sale price then its looks at first. I love the Lord of the Rings and Legolas will always be a favorite character of LOTR book and movie lovers. As dolls go, this is a nicely articulated ken. His legs and arms move well which is a good feature if you're in to posing and not keeping dolls in their boxes. His face is well constructed though not particularly masculine. He IS supposed to be an elf though and I'm not embarrassed to have him on my shelf. His hair is just like the films and has a few great padawan-type braids that I love.
The only thing I do NOT like about this doll is his costume which feels cheap and poorly made. Overall, I'm glad to own this doll. Its a great addition to any Lord of the Rings or Barbie collection.

I received Ken as Legolas for Christmas after I (on a whim) placed it on my Wish List. I have the first two Toy Biz action figures (blah, but cool) still in their boxes, but I never found the third so this was my "replacement" for not having the full three movie set. When I first saw it, I was floored. It's very well crafted, yet they could have spared a little of Ken's looks for some real authenticity from the movie. Despite that, the doll is amazing. I only removed him once to examine him closely and was amazed. The stand, for those who don't know, is behind the packaging slip (background) behind him. It's really cheesy from the looks of it (I didn't open it enough to find out.) The box is a much better display case for him. You can't complain; it's worth the money especially for a fan.

I recently finally acquired Ken as Legolas and am overall very happy with him. I took him out of the box and am very pleased with his posability, as well as the details Mattel added: tiny braids in his hair, pointed ears, and very nice arrows to go with the bow. The quiver is also detailed. The only disappointments were in the quality of the costume and the fiber of the hair itself. Both seemed to be made of something very cheap--the fabric is thin and sort of fuzzy, like a cheap store-bought Halloween costume, and the hair feels odd (hard to describe). The accessories are made of plastic and are durable enough for people like myself who are only going to put Legolas on display, but definitely not meant for children to play with (and for those who think this is wrong, consider that this doll is marketed as a collectible for adults and NOT as a toy).
I highly recommend Ken as Legolas for all adult LOTR fans and fans of the character Legolas in particular (although, once again, fans of Orlando Bloom will be disappoitned--this doll is not an attempt to capture his features, just an attempt to portray Legolas). Despite the low quality of the costume and hair, I had to give this doll 4 of 5 stars.

I think this is a fantastic item, but I wouldn't call it a toy. To me, it's so well-made and from such a popular book-turned-movie series that it's definitely a collector's item. Meant to be protected by placing in a display case or elsewhere in your home.
You can still enjoy it ... by looking at it and adding it to your collection of precious things. Meanwhile, there are plenty of other Barbies and Kens that are more suitable to rough wear that kids give them. Buy and enjoy ... from afar. Hands off!!!

~I think he is my most favourite doll than all other dolls purchased in Amazon - I think reason why is that he is rare as i could not find him at any stores, even toy store. I prefer to but in person as I want to see them in person but he comes in perfect condition!
