5.0 out of 5 stars Gnomes...and more
This book was perhaps one of the best Dragonlance books not written by Margret Weis and Tracy Hickman. It gives a ton of great information, varying from humorous anecedotes that cause a person to simply smile at the small things in life, to deep, moving tales of that ignite some inner flame to stories of high adventure. It was nice to see stories written, for once,...

1.0 out of 5 stars it tries to be funny but it isn4t
This book has a one or two good stories, but the rest is plain bad. A lot of the stories attempt to be funny and yet they fail miserably. It is a dissapointment after reading the Dragon series books. 4.0 out of 5 stars Very Funny book, July 3, 2000
By

All I can say is that the book was great. The majority of the storys were extremly funny, and the others wern't meant to be. Some were Inspirational, especially the first story were Tasslehoff Burrfoot has to save his comrades whom are lost in the snow. Margaret Weis, and Tracy Hickman are my two favorite writers. The only downfall to this book is that one, or two of the storys are boring, and slow. But, that is made up by the other great stories in the book.

It was nice to see stories written, for once, that has truly good kender, gnomish, and gully dwarf heroes. However, it should be noted that one tale involves a minotaur, and was very good too. All in all I would say it was a great book, giving a lot of information on Mount Nevermind that has not been seen since 1987 (Gnomes-100, Dragons-0). A must have!

4.0 out of 5 stars Kender, Gully Dwarves, and Gnomes....oh my!!!, May 1, 2010
Another series of short stories involving the world of Krynn, of which I have many of the series. A perfectly fine stand alone series, the stories are full of humor and adventure. The story Hearth Cat and Winter Wren is my favorite from this selection. Exploring the lives of adventurers as they are turned into animals while trying to save people from an evil wizard.

4/5

4.0 out of 5 stars Good anthology, a bit lacking, April 25, 1998
By A Customer
Lots of heroic deeds and such... how could this not be a good story? Well, it's not very realistic. The anthologies involve every day people becoming heroes. The stories are excellent, but not original. But you might as well pick this one up for "Into the Heart of the Story"! This is a funny little piece that is the truth about the Heroes of the Lance. This is a very enjoyable book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Altogether good book, October 26, 2000

This was a fine compilation of tales, with stories that though made no big impact on the history of the series, were interesting and in themselves nice diversions from life. "Wanna Bet?" was an excellent form of characterization that was fun to follow, and narration in these stories was surely what made most of these tales fun at all. My only problem with this was, I read about Kender, and I read about Gnomes, but I failed to find any Gully Dwarves in this story, so it received the rating that you yourself see above.

Besides from the stories that try to be funny there are also some stories that try to trascend and present the reader with phylosophical ideas. Yet these efforts are laughable. Most stories are badly written, silly, and posses no relation what so ever with previous novels of Krynn.

I have to give all the short story novels 3 stars. There are some stories you won't like but they'll 2-4 really great ones that will make the books worth the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not the most excellent, September 23, 2001
This book was quite a good book. I read a lot of books. My favorites are in the dragonlance world. While some of the stories in this book were boring. The remainder were well written and fun to read. This book had just the right mixture of funny stories, and more serious stories. The true demise of toede, had to be one of the funniest. I would recommend this book to anyone who truly loves dragonlance.

3.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars until Wanna Bet showed up, October 16, 1999

I have noticed that most of you have been praising wanna bet. WHY?!?!?! It is an insult to everything dragonlance! You will be much more satisfied with this book if you read the disappointing "Wanna Bet?" first, then read the rest afterwards, which should make up for Wanna Bet's stupidity. My favorite story was the Wizard's Spectacles. Absolutely great writing! I loved the way they talked about Dalamar through the eyes of two people with barely any brains. Absoultely loved it! Possibly because I have always wanted to know a little bit more about Dalamar's past, instead of him just showing up to learn/spy on Raistlin. He is a great charactor, but he comes in to abruptly. The rest of the stories were good as well, and if it werent for wanna bet, i would have given this book 5 stars.
