Product Description

The PRO 300 3x is an auto-exposure, manualfocus converter designed for use with lenses of 50mm or above and work best with telephoto lenses of 100mm to 500mm. The PRO 300 3.0x can be used with telephoto zoom lenses as well as prime lenses. However, Kenko does not recommend them for lenses that have a zoom range that starts under 50 mm.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it for a Canon 100-400mm EF IS USM lens, July 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kenko 3.0X PRO 300 Teleconverter DG-Canon-EOS (Electronics)
I bought this to go with my Canon 60D and Canon EF IS USM 100-400 lens. The quality of the extender was too poor and I returned it. First, I found that I could handhold my lens at 400mm and the results were sharper without this extender than with this extender on a tripod. In other words, when I zoomed in digitally 3x on my computer on the 400mm handheld shot without the extender the image was sharper than if I used the extender with the lens. Second, with this lens the drop in stops resulted in loss of autofocus and so camera function was reduced--I spent too much time manually focusing. Not great when you photograph wildlife. I returned it and wouldn't recommend it for a use like mine.

I attempted to place the teleconverter on to my new EF 70x300 4-5.6 L IS USM lense. I just could not get the results I wanted - a clear good shot. The results were blurred more than not. Tried freehand, monopod, tripod - even had my grandson try (he is beter then me!)his results were not much better than mine.

Extremely disappointing and had to be returned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brings nature up close!, June 15, 2010

This teleconverter really zoomed in my pictures! Took pics of baby eagles, and horses running! But, you REALLY need steady hands or a tripod, if you are adding it to an already long lens (as I did)--otherwise, things will be blurry. I am glad that I purchased it!
