Kenkyu-Sha's New English-Japanese Dictionary

This book is definitely a very good dictionary, but what the reviews I read failed to explain is that it is a English->Japanese dictionary intended for Japanese speakers learning English not the other way around. It uses all Kanji without any hiragana "spellings," so unless you read Japanese well, I don't think this book is what a English speaking student of Japanese needs.

There is no doubt, though, that it is an excellent dictionary for Japanese students of English. It has a huge number of English words headwords, and my Japanese wife testified to the quality of its translation. Thus I feel it deserves a good rating. Maybe it was only me who mistakenly believed it was for English speakers, but that is not the dictionary's fault.
