SO far, it's doing a great job and is very powerful and versatile.

I was replacing an older Kenmore progressive canister vacuum that had developed a short after almost 15 years of use.

It is going back and I will NEVER buy another Kenmore vacuum no matter what Consumer's Reports rates it.

Oh man! This vac is simply a pleasure to use and does a great job. It is replacing a progressive upright we've had for more than 6 years. The upright was one of the worst designed, in terms of attachment use, but still cleans like crazy. Great suction, just a pain to use except as an upright only.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it isn't all solid metal construction. I don't think that even matters, since it seems to be well constructed, but humor me.

We have dogs; a Lab and an Aussie. Shedding machines. They camp on the furniture.

We have both hardwood and carpet floors.

After reading the reviews, I had pretty much settled on the LG canister; great reviews for the money. Unfortunately, I couldn't find one at Best Buy or Sears. Went to Plan B; back to amazon reviews. Saw that the Progressive canister actually got decent reviews and since the motor and suction aspects of our upright were still excellent, figured I'd give it a look.

The Blueberry's construction and features were just what I was looking for. The powered pet brush was a big part of it for me. Lots of Aussie hair "drifts" and lots of dog hair on the couch and chairs. Short, black lab hairs are a pain to get out of upholstery...until now.

It has a true hepa filter and a 28' retractible power cord.

It was on sale for about a hundred bucks off the regular price and I found a floor model at a Sears store nearby for even less. $200.

When I got there, the guy at "pick-up" said it appeared to be broken, so he called upstairs and they authorized a NEW, in-the-box unit at the same price. Wow. I was so happy, I bought a two year extended warranty.

The unit was easy to assemble and works like a champ.

This is the third Progressive Kenmore vacuum cleaner that I have owned (I bought each new). Each model is typically better than the previous one. However, this model may be the exception. It does not live up the Kenmore Progressive that I bought in 2006, although it is quieter, the attachments are easier to detach, and it's lighter and has a HEPA filter. Those are all good things. Where it disappoints is in the handle, which contains the detachable brush. Every time I use it, I wonder if the product designer was a man with big hands who never watched a smaller women use a brush attachment. This is one LARGE, thick, heavy handle; and unlike with previous models, it takes two hands to grip the handle in order to clean upholstered furniture. There's a crevice tool attached to the bottom of the handle, presumably to make it convenient to slip on and off. All it does is fall off when you least expect it (held on by a flimsy notch) and serves to make the handle even thicker and more uncomfortable whether attached or detached. The brush bristles are so short on this model that they are practically useless, and don't reach nooks and crannies like previous models. It's terrible for cleaning baseboards. It also sports a bigger, wider nozzle opening, but all that does is dilute the power of the suction. There's nothing to gain with the bigger opening. And with the brush off, the "naked" nozzle end, which used to be useful in some ways on older models, ceases to be good for anything since now there's a fat plastic part fitted around the nozzle end. One more aggravating feature is the suction control slider, again in the handle, which slides real easily, with no way to lock it. It's easy to accidentally knock the suction control slider to the closed position, which throws the circuit breaker.Read more ›

Okay, I have had a Bissell Clean view II Bagless for 3 years now. We have two dogs, one of them being a lab, and there are times of the year where she sheds so much, he hair clumps look like tumbleweeds across our hardwood floors!!! for some reason the Bissell did not pick up the hair on the hardwood floors, it would blow them away as you got near them and I felt like I was chasing the hair around the house!!!! It was also heavy to lug up and down the stairs! It also got clogged so much, I had to clean the bagless containers often and I had to WASH the filters. I even recently took it to a repairman, and it cost me to have it fixed, and STILL It was a TRUE headache!
Anyway fast forward to today when our lab was shedding like there's no tomorrow! and I just could not take it anymore! I researched online, and read all of the wonderful reviews and went out and purchased the Kenmore Progressive Canister Vacuum. WOW!!! I don't know if I just had a terrible vacuum before, but what a difference!!!! I love that it has a hardwood floor and carpet option, and different suction options. I find it so easy to use, and I truly do not find the crevice tool to be annoying or inconvenient. I carry it in my hand so I don't have to put it back in the plastic notch, because I do have to agree, it is a little difficult to get in and out.
Aside from that, I no longer have to chase hair balls! and I felt like I could totally walk around my house barefoot without feeling disgusted! YAY!!!
If you have dogs, I highly recommend this Vacuum! and if you have carpets and hardwood floors, this vacuum works beautifully in both!!!
