Kennedy built a solid reputation on this box and other machinist boxes like it. My Dad had a Kennedy-built Craftsman machinist box just like this (7 drawer, felt lined, locking top and front panel) in the 1960's. It was factory-painted in the familiar Craftsman hammered gray--he took good care of it and it served him very well.
That was well over 45 years ago, so I wasn't sure what to expect of a brand new Kennedy box, but I was very pleasantly surprised. This thing just as solid as that old Craftsman. Firm, precise construction. Flawless brown wrinkle finish. Felt in drawers perfectly finished. It seems Kennedy hasn't changed anything in 45 years if that is possible. And it was shipped from Kennedy direct...packed and protected to arrive in perfect condition. Seller thru Amazon was Plexsupply and they delivered as promised at a very reasonable price.
Maybe this relatively small friction-slide box with an old tried-and-true design isn't the eye-catcher that a big polished and chromed Snap-on or Mac ball bearing chest is, but it certainly has earned its place in the tool box hall of fame. There are a lot of machinists who still swear by this box. It's doubtful that anyone has built a better version of this one yet. And its still 100% made in USA. I like it enough to seriously consider buying another one, just for good measure.
