No more batteries!!!,

This review is from: Kenneth Cole New York Men's KC1476 Automatic Watch (Watch)
I bought this watch back in December of 2007 to replace an aging Fossil. I have a few watches and always seem to be replacing batteries. I really like the fact that this one has automatic movement and I will never have to worry about replacing a battery in it. It's a good looking watch that can be worn with jeans & a t-shirt or a shirt & tie.
The face has three dials on it. One shows the hour using 24 hour time. This dial also displays a sun or moon depending on the time of day. This dial is really helpful when setting the time. You'll never have to worry about the date changing at 12PM instead of 12AM again. The second dial shows the day of the month and the third dial has a wheel that displays the movement of the watch. One thing I really like about the watch is the movement of the second hand. It doesn't just tick and then pause like my other watches. It kind of sweeps but in a really fast tick tick tick motion. Two gripes I have with this watch are: 1. The automatic winding feature does not adequately wind the watch. I have a few watches and don't wear the same one everyday. I soon discovered that if I let the watch run down it will take a good amount of wrist movement to get it going and keeping accurate time. I bought mine from Macys and didn't notice they gave me the wrong manual until after I got home. I never seemed to remember to bring the receipt and incorrect manual to the mall to swap it out. Anyhow, after searching online I learned that you can use the crown to manually wind the watch. I have since gotten into the habit of manually winding the watch after I take it off. Now I can let it sit for days now and not worry about it stopping (something I couldn't do before). If I do let it sit long enough to stop, I don't have to keep shaking my wrist to get it going again. I just wind it a few times, set the time and go. 2. There is no way to set the second hand. It keeps ticking even with the crown pulled out. I synchronize all of my watches with www.time.gov to see how accurately they keep time and not being able to set the second hand drives me bonkers. Keep in mind I don't have a manual so if there is a way to do this please let me know. I paid $25 more for this watch at a retail store back in December. At the current price of $80 this watch is steal. Overall I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. If it weren't for the two gripes I mentioned above I would have given it 5.

Bought this as a gift for my bro-in-law. When it came, fell in love with it; wanted to get one for myself as well. Works great, looks great. Adds to your personality. I liked it so much, ended up buying another piece for my cousin.
They both loved it. Fai!

The watch is gorgeous. Love the leather band. Love the style. After 3 weeks the watch no longer works. I wore it about 3 times a week. No scratches no hits. Also, it must be noted that the automatic feature is awful. It only lasts a couple hours if you don't wind it. It has stopped working while i was actually wearing it. It is true, the only way to set the date is moving the time forward past the twelve twice for one date change. (unbelieveably annoying) Im giving it two stars becuase its the sexiest watch I've even owned, and even with all the problems i wouldve happily wound it every day if it actually didnt stop working on me.

A lemon?,

I purchased this watch last week, and it arrived today. Excited, I tore into the package, and found this beauty of a watch. (The only reason why it is not a zero-star review is because it is pretty.) I like the styling, and was happy to have another temporary automatic watch until I can get my Invicta Pro-Diver fixed. Unfortunately...the watch requires one to wind it to get it going. Really. (My Invicta just needs to be shaken.) It doesn't have reflective dials, so good luck seeing it at night. There's no dayglo or light option, either. Yes, it is a comfortable, sturdy watch, but after wearing it for a mere five hours, and doing nothing more strenous than typing, the watch has died on me. How, you ask, does an automatic watch die? I am uncertain myself, but I think the mechanism is faulty. Manually winding the watch 'twitches' the visible movement, but no cigar...winding it, the bezel feels as though it is not catching on whatever it is supposed to catch on. I am supremely disappointed in the workmanship on this watch. Pity, I had such high hopes for it.
In summary, I will be returning this watch to Amazon.com, and will purchase a different watch. Perhaps something with a battery? (Or maybe, a solid reputation.) |
