beautiful functionality, June 8, 2009
This review is from: Kenneth Cole New York Women's KC4638 Automatic Bracelet Watch (Watch)
I first saw this style of watch, sometimes called a "skeleton" watch because the inner workings are exposed, at Macy's. The only style they had featured crystals around the face, which to me, looked tacky. So I passed then, but decided to look online to find a skeleton watch with a simpler design, and this one fit the bill perfectly. After doing a fair amount of research at other sites, the price for this watch was also competitive with similar watches at other sites.
The watch itself is beautiful. Besides the open workings, which are fascinating to look at, the overall style is graceful and nicely designed.
The face is a little larger than my other watches, but it does not look like a man's watch. The hands (it has a sweep second hand), the numerals (it has a 12, all the other numbers are represented by dots) and the every other link on the band are a beautiful soft coppery color, which may be, or is similar to, rose gold. The majority of the face is composed of the open workings, but the outside rim, where the 12 and dots are, is white.
The band is a little large, so for those with exceptionally small wrists, it may need to be adjusted by having a link or two taken out. On my wrist, it slides freely, but it's not too large. The foldover clasp is very easy to fasten with one hand. The Kenneth Cole logo is printed just under the 12 and on the clasp, but very subtly in both places.
In my opinion, this is the most stylish skeleton watch I've seen and I'm very happy with it. Bonus feature - it's a kinetic movement, which means it keeps time with the movement of your arm. If you leave it sitting for a couple of days it will lose time, but all you have to do it set it to the correct time once you put it on and it goes from there.
Best of all, no more replacing watch batteries and going to your jewelry box only to find that the watch you wanted to wear is dead. This watch is suitable for both dressed up occasions and casual wear. Now that I have this watch, I don't see myself wearing a different watch again.

Heavy, yet understated, August 18, 2009
This review is from: Kenneth Cole New York Women's KC4638 Automatic Bracelet Watch (Watch)
I picked up this little gem for $22.00 on clearance at TJ Maxx. Well worth that type of money but I wouldn't have paid over $75 or so for it. It's a well built and smart looking watch, no doubt about it but it does have quite a bit of weight to it. I find myself taking it off often throughout my shift due to that. It also wears off the copper color on the band from normal wear and tear. I have a small wrist and the face is huge on it, but I like big faced watches. It looks big but definitly has a feminine feel to it. My first kinetic watch and that was weird the first few weeks when I'd have a few days off, then put it on and wonder why it was so far off the actual time. Bottom line is it's a nice looking watch but heavy.

I have this watch and paid $75 on Overstock.com. I give the watch itself 5 stars, but the price on this site is a 0. Save your money.
