I ordered this briefcase so I could carry my laptop and accessories, files, notepads, and books with me to and from work daily. The briefcase is a fantastic size. My laptop (Toshiba Satellite L655 15.6") fits perfectly in the compartment, even in its neoprene laptop sleeve. The briefcase actually has three full-sized compartments: One compartment for the laptop, one middle compartment (which contains three separate interior zipper pockets), a front expanding compartment with a center divide and three more interior pockets. The face of the briefcase has two zipper compartments. The top compartment has numerous pockets and compartments for pens, pencils, highlighters, business cards, etc., as well as a large zipper pocket located behind the pen/pencil holders. The bottom compartment is perfect for my laptop power cord, and conveniently has two netted pockets for any miscellaneous item that you would like to secure. The front and rear compartment zippers are quite large and appear very durable. The middle compartment (as well as the two front compartment) zippers are slightly smaller, but nonetheless appear as durable and functional. The briefcase comes with a padded shoulder strap that connects to metal loops on each side of the case. The loops are offset (one is in line with the rear compartment, the other in line with the front) which offers a balanced carry should you use the strap. I personally use the padded, leather wrapped handles to carry the case. This is a very preliminary review, but I wanted to provide better insight into the features of this briefcase. I chose this case mainly because of the price - I couldn't justify spending over $100 on a leather case when I could spend $40 on one that retails as high as $179 on comparable websites. I can't speak for the overall durability of the case as of yet, but for the price, I would highly recommend giving this briefcase a chance.

This new Kenneth Cole carrying case arrived a few days ahead of schedule. The case accomdates a new DELL XPS-17 (17") laptop WITH the 9-cell extended (protruding) battery and a mini-USB mouse transceiver plugged in. The laptop is also inside a new neoprene sleeve [Belkin Neoprene Notebook Sleeve for 17-Inch Laptop (F8N049-BR) (New)] available at Amazon. All of this fits perfectly inside the special laptop compartment. The case is complete with a removable shoulder strap with a sliding pad. There are numerous well-designed compartments to carry pens/pencils, CDs/DVDs, power adapters and cables, manilla folder files, etc. Many of the compartments are further sub-divided into their own zippered sub-compartments. The laptop compartment is already well padded and my own neoprene sleeve only adds to the protection. The case is, by far, the best I've ever owned - not too big, not too small, but 'Just right'. This setup is a winner for those interested in traveling with a 17.2" laptop. It is also well thought-out and very professional looking. It is also designed to be 'tethered' to a rolling luggage cart. This case is MUCH cheaper at Amazon than at places like Fry's. (Yes, I also saw it there listed for around $100 in the Downers Grove, IL store.) Save mega-bucks with Amazon and be happy as a lark with this purchase.

This bag was priced at Fry's for $100.00, great deal on Amazon page I have an Acer AS7741 with 17inch monitor and the laptop fits beautifully.

I first bought this bag at Staples to carry my Dell M6500; I choose it for the Size(the M6500 is a 1900x1200 17" display); the Construction (adequate padding, Strong zippers), and the Design (well thought out compartments for laptop, documents, power supply, discs and drives, pens and pencils; folds open for airport scans). I have been carrying computers to Offices, through Airports, Construction Sites and Hydrocarbon Facilities since they became small enough to carry. {Yes, and before that too.} This is one of the best constructed bags that I have had. And by far the best designed. The first one that I bought is still in daily service and only shows a little dirt on the outside. The second replaced the original laptop bag that i bought for my 17" Vostro because it was the only thing i could find to fit it at the time and i was never happy with. That bag is now relegated to cables and such. This is the third bag and Amazon has it for about half what I had been paying. This will be for a second M6500.

As for the one comment someone had about the bag being heavy, the bag itself is made with pretty light materials and is not a Roller Bag so it does not have a rigid metal frame. It is however BIG and you Can put a whole lot of computer, power supply, accessories and paper in it. Thus You can make it quite heavy. And I have. The bag tolerates this quite well (even with the zippers half open), but you will feel it on your shoulder. I have been using the first bag for nearly a year and a half, with a lot of time on construction sites. It has been frequently heavily loaded and still is in perfect condition.

Picked up this bag when my previous one (different brand) fell apart after 9 months. I figured it would work well daily but didn't think it'd hold up through airports. I was pleasantly surprised. After several trips, it looks new. I was surprised at how much it holds, swallowed a week's worth of reports (just over a ream of paper) without a problem. That plus a medium-size laptop and all the accessories I need. It's security friendly, I just unzip it & send it through the scanner, no pulling out the laptop. Plus, the shoulder strap seems to balance the load, making it feel less heavy. Small quibble, there is no pocket on the back panel like every bag I've had before, wich I use to keep itineraries, boarding pass, etc. Don't like digging inside for those things. Other than that, this bag is very useful.
