Needed improvisation, August 8, 2009

Maybe I just have large feet heightwise, but I had to cut away the elastic sides in order to get my foot into my 10.5 D. Maybe they would fit skinnier feet or work better with smaller sizes, but for the sale price of $35, I guess I couldn't go wrong. If you use a sharp razor to get a clean cut at the edges, they still look pretty good as long as the white leather underneath doesn't show too much. (I didn't see the value in sending back a $35 shoe, so I took a chance with the modifications). Once I could get my foot inside, it fit well, but only without socks. Now that I've worn them a bit, I can wear them with dress socks. Still too early to see how durable they are, but they feel like a slipper or aquasock and seem dressier than sneakers even with the modifications that I made. At first it feels as if the insole is shorter than it should be, but I now feel that it's better not to have padding under my toes.
So for the price, three stars works for now. I'd say it's a single summer shoe for now.
