Picture Perfect
When I pulled this album out of a used CD bin as a teenager I had no idea what to expect, but I was delightfully surprised. I knew nothing about Burrell at that point, and it was the perfect introduction to a guitarist whose understated artful playing ranks him among the jazz masters. The tracks are well chosen, and Burrell plays beautifully. A must-buy for the Burrell...

Expectedly adequate
Mid-range classic Jazz guitar shows noteworthy chops even then at Burrell's young age but doesn't have what it takes to engage modernly past intoxicating background levels. Expectedly adequate

I knew nothing about Burrell at that point, and it was the perfect introduction to a guitarist whose understated artful playing ranks him among the jazz masters. The tracks are well chosen, and Burrell plays beautifully. A must-buy for the Burrell fan, the jazz collector, or anyone just beginning to explore what jazz has to offer.
