The Why ISBN 0-9652672-4-5, December 8, 2000
This review is from: Kenpo Theory : "The Why" (Paperback)
This book is exactly its title "THE WHY" - The Kenpo Theory. As I would learn new techniques, the question behind the moves would always come into play. This book helps the student learn the sequence behind all of your moves.
Some of the subjects Lee explains are: Adjustment of Weapon According to Distance, Circular and Linear Motion, Covering Distance, Increasing Striking Potential, Motion Angular, Situation of Opportunity, Spontaneous Deception, The Blueprints of Kenpo, Torque Principle, Zones of Distance. I find that it is not enough to know the how. Without the why, your movements are just memorized.
Lee's ability to explain and demonstrate these theories makes this book a must for your Kenpo Karate collection. Its easy to understand and apply.

Kenpo Theory: The "Why"
This was the 2nd book by Mr. Bachman that I've had the pleasure to read. This book is in my opinion a continuation of Quantum Kenpo with many improvements. Once again he touches on many Kenpo principles and concepts (too many to name approx 30 +), but they are more minute ones that separate the o.k. or good Kenpoist from the better or very good Kenpoist. This book is complete with a host of diagrams and photos on almost every page that help illustrate concepts such as Reverse Motion vs Returning Motion. Once again I think Mr. Bachman has done the "Art" a service by sharing the concepts that it is based on at a very reasonable price to make it accessible to the masses.

I really enjoyed the details of the concepts, theories and principles. There isn't a lot of material on this. I can apply this book to all my techniques. Its pretty cool.
