I love the tabletop fountain idea. It has a very soothing sound, however, I am disappointed in the electrical connections. Yes, it has a long cord so you can put it just about anywhere, BUT, the ONLY way to turn it off is to unplug it at the socket. This is not convenient and now becomes a chore to use. We had a different one where the shut off was just below the unit, about 6 inches so it still hid behind the table. I would have liked to know 'where' I would need to turn it off and on...it definitely would have made a difference in my purchase decision. This unit also came in 2 sizes showing a light source for the larger one...I unfortuntely presumed they would both have a light source...not so. Send it back, sure I could but the unit is quite heavy and the shipping alone would defeat the purpose of a good Amazon deal.

There are both pros and cons to this product. It's made in China, as so many things are these days. The slate exterior looks like it could be a thin laminate. Its worn in several places, revealing a solid color underneath. The slate itself has little color, mostly tones of grey. But gently cleaning the exterior of the fountain with some mild sudsy water and a wash cloth did wonders for its appearance.

Its a heavy, solid piece, built to last. The copper funnels look nice in contrast. The water flow actually sounds like a small stream. Its very soothing. And there's an "on-off" switch in the cord. There's no spashing whatsoever around the fountain.

It would be nice if it came with a light, but it doesn't. I placed an amber colored submersible light in its base. It adds some light to the front of the fountain, although the fountain construction doesn't allow much of that light to travel up. A mini spotlight with a dimmer, pointed at the wall behind the fountain, really made it a calming focal point, and brought out the clean lines of the fountain.

The packing was excellent. And the fountain arrived in the same week I ordered it. I couldn't have asked for better service.

As long as you're not expecting a fine piece of art, the pros should far outweigh the cons of this product. Enjoy!

Quality made product at a GREAT Amazon price! Pump is silent. Water sound is excellent for a small office or bedroom. I highly recommend this product.

Simple and easy to setup.

The copper tubing is a really nice touch and adds value to the water fountain. I had 1 concern with the fountain, which was that the water did splash. However, I was able to remedy it by placing a rock in the tube so that the water did not splash as much. This is the only reason I reduced the rating to 4 stars.

The main reason I bought it was for the sound, and the fountain makes a very nice amount of it. It's not overbearing, and it's not too quiet.

I would recommend this fountain.

EDIT: I did change out the water, and found that the pump does have a control to the amount of water being pumped. I lowered the volume of water being pumped, and it's eliminated the "splashing" problem I noted earlier. I've also changed the rating from 4 to 5 because of that.

I purchased this fountain because I was tired of the cheap plastic ones that only lasted for a short period of time. I've now had it for a couple months and love it. I wish it came with a light, but was able to easily rig-up a LED light that sits right above it. Its well-built, and very relaxing. After owning 4-5 fountains over the past couple years, this one is probably the best one I've purchased. I connected mine to an inexpensive remote control outlet found here on amazon, it makes it easy to turn on/off in a jiff.

This fountain exceeded expectations. I got it as a gift for my boyfriend who had had a fountain before in the UK; obviously the bar was set high. It is different than other fountains I've seen which is what drew me to it. I liked the verticality of it, the stone, the copper sculpture look, the weight and heft of it. A much more industrial aesthetic than your classic pebble-and-rolling-stone zen type fountain. I also figured that because the water was falling downward from higher than most fountains, it might give it more of a bubbly-brook type sound. That was the most important aspect when considering my purchase, because I live on an incredibly loud, urban street in NYC. Amazingly, the fountain has excellent sound! It doesn't quite block out the sound of sirens, but it can be heard despite all the other urban chaos that's outside our window! I would recommend this for a home or office, particularly if you're considering a fountain in a loud area. It has an off-switch and because it's taller, it doesn't have a very large footprint. Five stars!

What an amazing little fountain--well made, all parts in good working order. Very soothing as a background to spiritual counseling (direction) that I do out of my home. Fits my decor perfectly. Very happy with this purchase.

I just recieved this tabletop fountain yesterday so I cannot attest to its longevity or future issues. It came packaged nicely and was heavier than I was expecting which is a positive thing because it seems to be of very high quality. The one thing I will mention is that the five tubes that the water flows from are made of a shiny copper (made to look slightly distressed so it doesn't look like bright copper tubing or anything) which I did not get from the picture. The copper does stand out from the slate, however it is not unattractive, just not what I was expecting. It was very easy to put together (attach filter to a tube, fill reservoir with distilled bottled water, place stones on top, and plug in) and all you hear is the trickle of the water (no motor noise like I've heard with some fountains). I rated 4 stars out of 5 only because I was not expecting the copper (I thought the whole thing was a neutral slate color) but I still love it and could have rated a five had the description been a bit more accurate.

I have had this fountain for several years now and it continues to function beautifully. Over time, it has acquired a handsome patina that I quite like. When I replenish the water, I add a cap-full of white vinegar to keep the water clear and calcification to a minimum; otherwise, only an intermittent cleaning is needed. It's attractive and quiet and I've been very happy with this purchase.
