Product Description

Up for sale is a brand new traditional Japanese Sakabato Samurai Katana. It is the primary weapon used by the character "Himura Kenshin" in the anime series Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story. A sakabato (reverse-edged sword) is a fictional type of Japanese sword. On the normal katana, the outward curved side of the blade is sharpened, while the inward curved side of the blade is blunt. In contrast, the sakabato is made so that the cutting edge is on the side that curves inward. This sword features a reverse blade constructed by 440 stainless steel. The edge of the sword is slightly sharpened. The sword is measured at 40". The scabbard is lacquered in glossy burgundy paint. A golden Kanji of "Reverse" is stamped on the scabbard. The handle is measured at 10.5" long, and features antique silver finished guard and pommel. The sword stand in the picture does not come with this sword.

the sword is authentic to the rouroni kenshin/Samurai X series, the balde, as described is reversed, but the tip of the sword was not like most swords, which in the descriptions picture it is, it suddenly turns into a straight curve, rather than a gradual slope. the sword and sheath themself look amazing, but when i removed the sword from the sheath, it took extrenuos force, and i was afraid to break the sword or sheath. but, if left as is when recieved, it will look amazing in any persons collection if you want it for decoration its worth it, but if you want it to be functional, search for reverse blade swords and find the one that says it is made of carbon steel in the description,carbon steel is far more functional than stainless steel(which this one is made of),

a side note for those who are just starting a collection, 1060 carbon steel is the cheapest type of sword availible that is affordable(for most)
if you are willing to spend more, try out damascus,9260 spring, and T10 steels
most durable being damascus

Carbon Steel: the lower the # the more flexible the steel(bad below about 50) and high #s are more brittle(bad above 70), 1060 is a great compromise for both
