5.0 out of 5 stars I love this gadget!
I received this little light for Christmas. I love it. It is just enough light. I am an iMac user and it plugs right into the side of my keyboard. The blue-white light is very pleasing. I do not use it with a laptop but instead it augments the light at my desk. I highly recommend it.

The problem is that even when the light is pointed down at the keyboard you'll see the bright edge of the light and no matter how you position it the glare is bliding in low light situations (which is the only time you need the damned thing). A piece of electric tape will solve the problem but I'd suggest you look at another model.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Right Little Light, December 16, 2002
This review is from: Kensington 62645 Flylight Platinum-Colored Portable USB Light (PC/Mac) (Personal Computers)
I love my FlyLight because it does one thing really well--it casts a bright narrow beam of white light on my laptop keyboard. The Flylight is solidly constructed of three simple segments: a solid state blue-white LED light, a sturdy gooseneck and a USB plug. Don't want to disturb your spouse but can't see the keyboard in the dark? Simply plug the FlyLight into any USB port and it comes on instantly. A switch would be the first thing to go bad, so Kensington wisely does away with it. The gooseneck is long enough to snake around the biggest laptop screen but still holds the shape into which you twist it. With my WiFi setup, I love to hang out by the outside fireplace on starry nights catching up on e-mail or downloading and listening to my favorite tunes. The Flylight's bright narrow beam doesn't bother my sleeping wife, facilitating late night computing in bed. Finally, it's cool-looking, functional, well-designed and well-executed. Worth every penny I paid for it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Thing does its job well, September 23, 2004

This is a handy tool for a laptop in low light. Nice little thing...

Only thing about it is that some light escapes out the side even when pointing down. Also its not long enough for some purposes. Plus sometimes it slumps from the USB port.

I like this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Flylight does the job in low-light conditions, April 1, 2004

If you ever use your laptop in low-light conditions, such as:

- on an airplane
- outside
- in a darkened room

the Kensington Flylight is perfect for giving you enough light to see the keyboard without lighting up a room. The stalk is flexible, allowing for easy aiming--and the light curls up easily and can be stashed into a side pocket of your travel bag.

It's a gem...I love mine, and would buy another if I lost it.

Bonus idea: this could also be used with a desktop machine (probably need a USB extension) if you prefer a soft glow over your keyboard instead of an overhead light. It's also much cheaper than choosing an illuminated keyboard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for a Writer Who Loves the Dark, April 19, 2005
This review is from: Kensington 62645 Flylight Platinum-Colored Portable USB Light (PC/Mac) (Personal Computers)
If you have one of this hot new PowerBooks with the glow in the dark keyboard, then you don't need one of these, but if you are like the legions of normal men and women who can't afford to shell out thousands of dollars for a laptop, but you still want to work in the dark, because maybe you're on a plane and the movie's going, or maybe you're in bed and your spouse objects to the lights on while he/she's trying to sleep, or maybe you just like the dark, then this baby is for you. I'm one of those dark loving people, a writer of stories scary and the dark is essential for me. This little light keeps my trusty old iBook's keyboard lit up and not much else. Perfect for a writer in the dark. Thumbs up from me.

If you really need a RED light as the product description says, do not order this light. The output is White.

I've just wasted the purchase and shipping price because it is way to much hassle to return it for credit.

Despite some of the reviews this is a really good little light. Dependable and great in low light.

It bends fairly well and does provide light. However, it provides so little light that I could not use it to read a book in a semi-dark room. The area of its light is so small that it really is not of much help to illuminate a keyboard.
