5.0 out of 5 stars The best notebook case around!
I've used one of these saddlebag cases for 2 years now. I don't know how I ever lived without it. It holds any laptop I've ever seen, plus allows for ample storage of papers, folders, and even my large day-planner! It has great storage areas for power bricks, cables, keys, metal pocket junk (for quick storage before hitting airport metal detectors) and a great outside...

It has great storage areas for power bricks, cables, keys, metal pocket junk (for quick storage before hitting airport metal detectors) and a great outside pocket to tuck away a cell phone or pager. It is convertable from backpack mode (great for moving in planes and airports) to shoulder strap or handle carry, and the backpack straps hide for a professional look. If you carry a laptop, buy this case!

After reading the reviews on the page for this page, I decided to see one for myself at a local CompUSA. The design is great, small and trendy, but it does have several drawbacks.

The notebook sleve, as others have already mentioned, is layered with a thin piece of felt. While it provides a nice and fuzzy place for the notebook, it is thin and suspect to easy ripping.

Second, the backpack straps on this bag are very unpadded and make the backpack rest on the upper back. Depending on how you like to wear backpacks, this may impact your like or dislike of the prodduct.

Lastly, the bag is small. This is not a bag a student can carry wtih all his or her boosk inside. It's made for a notebook and some accessories, with maybe a couple files or small books. For something similar to this but with more space for textbooks, you may want to look at the Amazon.com Messenger Bag.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Laptop plus Bag ever, September 19, 2000

I have many laptop bags and this one is the best for traveling on planes (as well as most anywhere else). It is the one bag that is made to easily slip under the seat in front of you. The three ways to carry it are fantastic, especially as a backpack. It is comfortable and convenient to get the straps out. f you want to look less kid-like or hiker-like going to a meeting, use the shoulder strap or handle. Best of all, when on a trip and want some R&R, dump out all of your work paraphenalia, and your laptop, and use it as a terrific backpack. I couldn't be more pleased with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tough, stylish, and practical., July 10, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Kensington 64089 SaddleBag Carrying Case (Black/Brown) (Personal Computers)
This is the coolest computer carrying case I've seen. I am glad I bought it. One of my favorite features is the three ways to carry it. This bag can be carried over the shoulder, on the back, or with one hand. Also, it is very comfortable to carry; the straps are wide and cushioned. The other great feature is the organized and spacious compartments that hold (besides the computer and peripherals), files, disks, pens, keys, cell phone, and plane tickets for easy access (a must when traveling). However, don't let the stylish look fool you. This bag is tough. The materials are high quality. If you are looking for a versatile computer case for traveling, buy this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars 3 weeks into this bag, June 3, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Kensington 64089 SaddleBag Carrying Case (Black/Brown) (Personal Computers)
Bag is holding up great vs commuting on buses, by car and also being used for a tote while volunteering as a naturalist at the local parks. I can verify that it is mud, fresh water, salt water, blackberry bramble and dog proof and has left my laptop functional and clean at the end of each day. Even dropped the bag once and the computer was fine. Oh and the bag got punted while standing on the bus and everything was fine as well. No sign of the seam ruptures noted by an earlier reviewer - there has been much abuse...

2.0 out of 5 stars Great design, but "fragile", July 20, 2000
This review is from: Kensington 64089 SaddleBag Carrying Case (Black/Brown) (Personal Computers)
I bought this product because I'm impressed with the feature it has, and as a customer support engineer I need the computer case that has a professional look at the customer place but should be comfortable enough to carry on the street. Most of the time I carry it as a backpack. But it's not tough as it should be. It last only 1 month and the inner side between the padded computer compartment began to tear. Because it has a lifetime warranty, I went back to the shop and got a new one. After a month plus again the inner side (I will say it as a weakness) is starting to tear and then I will go back to the shop to replace it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good looking, comfortable, holds lotsastuff, but too fragile, February 3, 2003
This review is from: Kensington 64089 SaddleBag Carrying Case (Black/Brown) (Personal Computers)
This is a good-priced, cool-looking, spacious, comfortable to carry bag. It converts to a backpack and the shoulder strap and handle are super padded.

Bad news: I went through two of these in six months, the second very nicely provided as a replacement for the first by Kensington for free. They both ripped out at one of the outer seams in the main non-padded compartment. I have a haul of a commute via bus and NYC subway and the bag got shoved around a lot. The exposed seams tend to snag on any available sharp surface and rip out.

Be nice to it and this could be a good bag, but if you need a bag that can be abused, stay away.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect carrying case!, July 26, 2000

Sling it over the shoulder, pack it on you back, or carry it with one hand. This computer case, not only offers three confortable ways to carry it, but also several compartments to store everything you'll need to carry with your laptop. The laptop compartment is well padded, guaranteeing added protection to you laptop (The felt that covers the inside of the compartment is thin; however, I have this carrying case for over an year, and it is still like new inside and out.) This carrying case is perfect for transporting any laptop safely and comfortably.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is awesome backpack..., September 7, 2001

Hi,
I purchased one of these Saddlebags for my niece who is in high school. She carries a lot of items in it and it has held up really well. She told me she could not find a big enough back- pack to fit all of her things in until I got her this Kensington bag. This is a great bag especially when used as a back-pack. My niece absolutely loves this bag I gave her. It really is a fantastic well made bag. :-)
