Good Value on a Travel Mouse for Notebook Users,
This review is from: Kensington 72114 Pocket USB Mouse (PC/Mac) (Personal Computers)
I bought this mouse for my PowerBook, primarily for use when away from home. For my large hands, I have traditionally preferred large mice, such as the Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer and the (no longer available) full-size Logitech MouseMan series. However, I do find this mouse to be perfectly acceptable, especially given its portable dimensions. For me, it is much more comfortable than the slightly smaller, but more expensive Pocket Mouse SE (72118). It is comfortable enough that when I get home, I pull it out of its included stuff sack and plug it into my Kensington Keyboard-in-a-Box (64350) which serves as a two-port USB hub when plugged into my PowerBook. Thus, it also makes a reasonable compact desktop mouse.
In terms of performance, it has worked on any reasonable surface. I have had no problem using it on a variety of surfaces including solid-wood desks, laminate desks, standard mouse pads, a deeply textured couch, jeans, and the comforter on my bed. The only problematic surfaces have been a shiny metal file cabinet top and a holographic mouse pad, but this is to be expected. For the price I can't complain. As far as compatibility is concerned, I have had no problems with my Mac running OS X (10.3) or my PC running Windows XP Professional. No driver installation was required for either system. I'd highly recommend this as carry-along mouse for most portable computer users.

Great Traveling mouse,
By A Customer
This review is from: Kensington 72114 Pocket USB Mouse (PC/Mac) (Personal Computers)
I recently purchased this mouse to carry with me while traveling. The mouse works great. I haven't had any problems using it on various surfaces. Once in a while the cursor will "jitter" back and forth as though the mouse is sensing tiny tiny movements even though it is resting. A simple nudge of the mouse stops the "jitter" if you feel the need to stop it. The wheel and buttons all work well. The thing I like best about this traveling mouse compared to others I looked at was it's size. It isn't the smallest "traveling" mouse on the market, but it is small enough to fit in my computer case for easy traveling yet big enough to be usable by someone with large hands and long fingers (me).

Pro:
1. very long cord (I no longer have USB ports in my keyboard, so this is essential) 2. Two button, one scrollwheel design easily adaptable for right or left hands 3. compact size and low profile comfortable for small hands Con: 1. skipping cursor 2. a little picky about tracking surfaces 3. Cord attachment isn't sturdy, even with careful use. Began getting wobbly after second year of ownership, necessitating holding cord still between middle and third fingers while moving. Had to replace mouse before third year.

Bought this alongside some Microsoft and Logitech mice - to be used in an office that seems to be notoriously hard on mice.
Despite the fact that Kensington's software (Mouseworks 3.0 for MacOS X) is shockingly out of date and appears to be abandoned by the company, it's STILL superior to the drivers from Logitech and Microsoft. The product has also done better. The Microsoft mice were asymmetrical (an evil design concept in a world of both dextrous and sinister users) and haven't held up as well. The Logitechs were fine, but some felt they were too small. This is a nice medium sized mouse that suits both lefties and righties and it's been tough in an environment traditionally hostile towards electronic rodents of this sort. Good cheap mouse.

I bought this mouse to replace my Apple "roller ball" mouse that came with my 6 year old iMac. The Pocket Mouse is great. I just plugged it in and had no problem. Comfortable to use, not too small for my desktop computer.

Kensington's software (mouse drivers) for mac is AMAZING,

Their software (mouse drivers) provides ability to customize (make your own) pop-up menu -- this is HUGE! Haven't seen it mentioned in the reviews, had to share. Researched (and have bought) most other brand mice, nothing else comes close (for the mac). The size/shape of the mouse works well for me, better than most others, although some of microsoft's are great

Great compact mouse for MacBook!,

I've been wanting a compact mouse for my MacBook for a while and have never been a fan of Apple's MightyMouse. This was a great price and I couldn't be happier with the mouse.
Pros: *compact *good length of chord *nice "click" feel *comes with travel case! *love the silver color *worked immediately with my Mac - no set up needed Cons: *The cursor moved really quickly - then I realized it was my computer settings that needed adjusting which was a quick and easy fix. Great price, recommended!

Works great and small too,
By Chunder (UK) - See all my reviews I have no idea what the device drivers are like. Most operating systems including XP, Mac & Linux all support wheel devices adequately out of the box. If you're one of those people who likes cursor trails, reprogrammable buttons, or other stuff that some drivers add I suggest you check out the Kensington website to see what you get.

I used to have problem with this mouse for the first year: it won't work on the light color mouse pad, the point is always un-steable,..... just SO Hard to control! We tried to install the driver, clean the exterior, change the mouse pad with dark color background..... It just won't work. My husband gave one last try by downloading the driver from their web site, and, this time, it WORKS!! My problem solved! This mouse has been like a pro ever since!! Steable, Sharp, and easy to control!

I've had this mouse for 1.5 years now and use it when on the road, during off site presentations, and when working at home. It's compact, comes with a stuff sack, and best of all works on my thigh while I'm trapped in a crowded airplane.
