Perfect for travelers, ok for the rest of the time,

I use this mouse full time and at first it was a pain but now I have gotten used to it and for the most part like it. Its real advantage comes when I have to travel. I do not like the touch pad on my computer and refuse to use it. This mouse takes up such a small amount of space that makes it worth packing.
My laptop case has a place for a cell phone and that is usually where I put this. It keeps it safe and I always know where to look for it. My only trouble with this is that the retractable cord sometimes gets all snagged up. It usually only takes a minute or two to fix but it can be frustrating. The retractable cord feature is nice if you have limited space and don't want the cord to get tangled with everyhting.

nice, very tiny mouse, needs some getting used to,

I have owned this mouse for about 18 months now, and it worked well for that period. Only recently, it started to fail--occasionally it loses power due to a loose connection. I thought at first that 18 months was very short, but having read reviews of other laptop mice, I see similar lifespans. I did use this mouse everyday for the past 18 months--pulling it out and closing it more than once a day in that time--and traveled around the country with it, so that is a lot of wear.
The tiny size takes some getting used to at first. You will probably stop noticing it after a few hours. I never experienced a problem with cord tangles. The 'jumping around the screen' that others reported does happen when it's on the wrong surface (like a magazine say), but I have never had a problem with it when I used it on a standard mouse pad.

Nice mouse, if you're a traveller.,

I bought this mouse in Canada, right before I flew out of the country. My laptop's touchoad and it's buttons are a little off the mark, and I wanted to be able to use my laptop in the plane back to The Netherlands. At first glance, the mouse is ideal; It's optical, boosts a scrollwheel, and has a retractable cable. Also, it's extremely small, which makes it very easy to store in one's laptop carrying case. However, the small size is also the mouse's disadvantage. I took the mouse to work today, and by now my hand is starting to hurt. I'm afraid that if I'd use this one day-in, day-out, I'll soon be left with RSI. To sum things up: If you have a need for a non-cordless (i.e. in planes), small USB mouse that you will not use for very long periods of time, this is your mouse. For daily use though, I'd recommend getting a bigger version.

For a mini-mouse, I like the feel of this one. It's easy to use. I prefer a wired mouse over wireless so I don't have to worry about batteries. I've had no trouble at all with this one, but you do have to be careful how you retract the cord. If you don't guide it, it can get twisted. But even if it does, it's easy to fix.

I hate wires everywhere so this retractable mouse is a great buy. I like it a lot. I have small hands so I dont find it uncomfortable. Others who have used my computer hate it because its so tiny. Ergonomically, it might be uncomfortable if you have large hands.

Handy little mouse!,

I received my Kensington PocketMouse Mini USB Mouse as a white elephant gift at the office Christmas party, and I love my mouse! It is tiny - and that is terrific for my little hands. It's the first mouse that doesn't make my hand ache from stretching out to use it. Could be awkward for people with large hands. The cord is super short and doesn't get tangled with anything. When you're done using it the cord retracts very tidily. Of course, could be too short depending on your setup. The tracking and scrolling is excellent. My first mouse that doesn't get tangled up with pet hair. No problems with setup, just plug it in, and it sure beats the touch pad on my laptop. For the price [...] it is a good deal. Especially, if you have small hands and like short retractable cords.

Cute, Little Baby Mouse! Good Baby Mouse.,

I like this little thing alot. I used to have a wireless mouse, a big sucker that would never fit in my laptop case. When I upgraded to XP, the wireless mouse wouldn't work. So I bought this as a replacement and I'm VERY pleased.
It has the benefit of a wireless in that the wire snaps back into place very easily with one small, deliberate pull so no tangles ever. It also fits in the palm of my hand or anywhere else I want to store it and I actually like the size for daily use. I have no problem with a small mouse, but then again I have a small hand. Anyway, it beats the enormous thing that was almost too big for my hand. Also, this is by far the best price I've seen. Most small computer mice are upward of $25. I was very pleased to find such a good mouse for less than $20.

Bad Rap,

Some of the reviews here are negative because the mouse doesn't behave properly i.e. makes big jumps, etc. I think this is a bad rap. The mouse is OPTICAL and needs the right surface to work properly. I tried mine on a variety of surfaces, from plain paper to my laptop case. Some surfaces were slick, others textured. The mouse worked flawlessy on anything with texture or a design. It worked poorly on plain paper or anything else that it could not read well. I love my little guy and use it quite happily on the laptop case if nothing else is available.

Decent, but could be designed much better,

The Optical Mini is designed for travelers and works quite well for its size. Being a USB mouse over wireless is a benefit because you don't want to mess with recharging batteries or carrying a cradle for it with you while traveling. The retraclable cable is the right way to go, but this model has an extremely inept design. On only my third or fourth use it because a tangled mess. This was a little different than what is promised on the product packaging which says, "And with the retractable USB cable there are no tangled cords." Right. Once you are finished with it you can hold the USB end in one hand and the mouse in the other and cause it to retract very slowly and carefully and avoid a rat's nest of cable. A tiny design change would have prevented this problem altogether. A larger design change would have retracted the cable into the mouse itself for an even more elegant product. I'm satisfied with the product since I'll only be using it as a travel mouse, but I would not recommend it for frequent use.

Works excellent. Just got it. Plugged it right into my notebook and BAM it works just fine. Small, I wouldn't recommend it for long use, but it works great, and the trackwheel has a nice click when you rotate it. Can't beat it for the price. The retractable cable is sweet. A++ WOULD BUY AGAIN
