4.0 out of 5 stars AC Outlet for your car, December 15, 2007
This review is from: Kensington Auto Power Inverter with USB Power Port for Emergency Power, Battery Backup (K38022US) (Personal Computers)
Just like having a wall outlet in your car with the added feature of a USB charger as well! Works well except that it gets pretty hot and starts to smell after a few hours.

4.0 out of 5 stars Inverter works for laptop, and for GPS, March 13, 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kensington Auto Power Inverter with USB Power Port for Emergency Power, Battery Backup (K38022US) (Personal Computers)
I got the Kensington K38022US inverter to power a GPS that worked off USB power, and a 15" laptop.
It handles those jobs fine.
The laptop's transformer is rated at 65W, but actual measurements have it consuming 35W.
I haven't tried to approach the inverter's rated load limit.
Good idea to do actual measures on your electrical load to determine if this inverter will meet your needs.
When new, the inverter gave off a solder smell in use; that odor is dissipating.
The inverter does get warm, even powering a USB port, so it's apparently not very energy-efficient.
