I've been lugging around the auto/air/wall adapter that I bought from HP for my EliteBook 8530w. The thing is gigantic and weighs a ton. Then I ran into a colleague at an event who had one of these for his 8530w (which is power hungry, btw) and I was thrilled to learn I had an option! Bought this right away and WOW it's really incredible what a difference it is NOT to carry the monster from HP. This thing is small, light, and the air adapter is just a cable that goes straight from the airline jack into the computer--doesn't even requre the small power pack when you're in the air. VERY nice!! And the extra USB jack keeps my iPhone charging when I am plugged into a wall.

The only thing that's keeping me from rating it 5* is that it does seem to get hot. That concerns me, but I'll keep an eye on it. I'm now on the road for a month with the thing, and if you don't see an update from me by the end of June, 2010, then you know I survived and that the Kensington worked well!

I just received this charger today. The wall charger is very compact and fairly light. I was very dissapointed when I saw the item did not come with the adaptor that you need on American Airlines. I had one that i tried and it still did not work. Tech support then confirmed that the item cannot be used on AA. So if you fly AA do not buy this. If you only fly on airlines that use the empower then it will be ok. I have been using a Kensington 33197 for many years.

Works great as a travel device for my HP Envy 15. Just as a heads up this doesn't fully power laptop, it'll charge the battery (a bit slow) but I believe it underclocks the cpu and doesn't have enough power for some of the ports i.e HDMI out doesn't work with sound with the Kensington charger but works fine with regular charger.

The package comes with a recharger for 110/220 and an adapter for "old" style recharging in airplanes. The recharger has a separate USB connector for recharging of your favorite cellphone, iPad, .... Having the option to recharge your laptop and accessory at the same time is convenient and a great solution. The recharger is "configurable" for a broad variety of laptops and easy to setup. The charger comes with a long and a short power cable to enable easy use both in an airplane and in a conference setup. The airplane recharge cable is nice to have but it is rare these days to find planes that have not been upgraded to have 110/220 between seats, in particular in business class. In my experience you have good options in business class and few options if any in coach. So it is not as helpful as you would expect. None the less for a frequent traveling (I am in that category) this is a great package to make sure you can be recharged while on the road.

I bought this as an upgrade to my previous Kensington Wall/Auto/Air Adapter K33403US, but ended up returning it. Like the K33403US, it was sleek and light, in fact slightly thinner, and I continued to make good use of the USB port. (PCs are limited to .5A, this delivers 1A like a typical usb wall adapter so it charges twice as fast.) Unfortunately, the same problem with the Acer tips not seating right showed up in just days, soon just as bad as the old one, where the OEM never does. This is obviously a problem with Kensington's manufacturing tolerances. Dropped another star relative to the older model because it has no car charger - the only option is buying an inverter and wasting a ton of power. I wouldn't normally do that, but this is now Kensington's best notebook adapter, they removed that feature from their entire line.

I kept it for three weeks, then took it back disappointed. It's just as good and bad as the older version, save for the car adapter, so at the right price it would be a good value.

I went through almost all the reviews before buying this adapter. I had a mixed feeling when ordering this however i should say that i am very happy about my adapter. It is very slim and it is compatible with all my laptops (Dell, Toshiba and HP). One of the review said that it tends to get hot very fast, however i defer it. The product is perfect.

I am now travelling light and not with heavy adapters.
