This lock works well and is very easy to use.

Of course, it really just prevents crimes of opportunity (a serious thief with wirecutters will get through it pretty quick), but for that purpose it's great.

I like the "word lock" combinations that are easy to remember.

I saw several reviews of different locks that do not properly fit to 2011 MacbookPro. This is NOT the case of this one which fits snugly in my mac. I recommend.

I think it would be unlikely to make an inadvertent mistake when entering a code for the lock. 1st, you turn the slot 90', then turn the 4 dials to select the code word (two letters at a time per dial are displayed prior to being moved into the selection slot), after the code is correctly entered, turn back the slot the 90' to set your code. The slot cannot be accidentally moved as it must be depressed while turned using a paper clip, small screw driver, etc. Hold down a button to insert the lock into the computer's Kensington slot, release the button, then randomize the code letters. The cable is coiled and expands from 3" to 6'. Remove the lock from the computer by moving the code letters into place, hold down the button, and remove the lock. My lock is stable ~ there is no wiggle in either the letter dials or the clip that locks it into the computer. I purchased the lock so that I can use my laptop in an expo booth and not worry about someone walking off with the computer as I'm occupied dealing with a customer. I would not depend on this style of lock should I need to walk away from the computer as likely wire cutters will untie it from the cable. I placed my order on the a Thurs and received the item on Monday.

We've had a few laptops go missing at my office over the past year, so I bought one of these to help protect my notebook. The cable is quite thin, so a decent set of cable cutters will cut right through them. However, stolen laptops are usually a crime of opportunity, so this lock definitely works as a deterrent since a thief wandering the aisles is unlikely to be carrying a bolt cutter or other heavy tools.

It's nice not having a key to lose, but remember it's important to RE-SCRAMBLE AFTER DETACHING the lock, otherwise anyone who walks by can read your code as the lock sits disconnected on your desk. That's really the only hassle, and not worth taking a star off for.

This laptop lock is really as easy to use as documented, after I got one that worked at all and after the support tech explained how to set it up. Had to send the first one back, but the second one works like a charm. The cable is a bit stiff and wants to pull the laptop to it, hopefully that will get looser as I use it.

The only other issue I have is with the instruction manual, it's totally in pictures with very little text and I had to get email support to set the device up. If not for that would have 5 stars.

I purchased this laptop lock to use with my 13" Macbook Pro. The lock is perfectly compatible with the security slot in my laptop, and seems to be constructed very well. I had purchased a laptop lock from a different manufacturer prior to this purchase, but returned it due to the lock seeming to get stuck easily and being generally unreliable. Such is not the case with this lock. I feel comfortable getting up from my desk to go to the bathroom without having to put my laptop away, and have had no problems at all with the lock's mechanism. Keep in mind that some cable cutters could definitely clip the wire of the lock, but for use as a theft deterrent the lock works excellently. I highly recommend this product!

The cord is terrible. The coiling cord is pulling my computer, especially since it needs to be attach on the right side. The cord is really in the way of my right hand.

My experience with this product didn't get off to a great start. The manual for the lock is incredibly ambiguous. There is no clear procedure concerning setting the combination, but I think that I got that part right regardless. The main issue was that the T bar, which is supposed to secure the lock, was faulty. Instead of turning a full 90 degrees, as the manual seems to illustrate, the lock I was given rotated only about 30 degrees. Due to the vague manual, however, I didn't realize the defect initially, and I put the lock in the laptop. This was the most infuriating part of my experience; the lock got stuck in my $1500.00 dollar device, and due to the faulty T bar, it wouldn't come out as the manual tries instruct. For an hour, I tried to get the lock out; in the end, I was able to pull it out; it hadn't even locked properly.

Glancing at the other reviews, it seems that my experience may be an anomaly... but I wouldn't suggest getting this lock...

I expect a full refund from the company, shipping included.

Not that it can't be clipped or broken, but it certainly is enough of a deterrent in an office or school that a would-be thief will move on, rather than go through the pain of getting past this lock.
