I just want people to know that the lock can freeze up. I bought this lock two months ago for my daughter to take to college. After using it just one month, she told me the key wouldn't turn in the lock. I called tech support and they suggested "a lock lubricant", so she got the dorm maintenance man to come up to her room with some WD-40. (the computer was locked to her desk) The can has a little straw attached to the nozzle, so you don't have to worry about getting oily spray all over the computer.
She let the oil sit for about 10 minutes, and then the key worked the lock just fine. I just thought I'd let y'all know in case it ever happens to you. It's an easy fix.

I purchased this lock for an Asus EEE 901. It works OK, but the lock cylinder doesn't go far enough along the lock mechanism at the laptop end, resulting in it jiggling around. It is still successfully secured, but it LOOKS flimsy - not at all like the Microsaver (non-DS) that I also own. I mainly got this lock because I didn't want two keys that looked the same on my keychain, but I wish that this lock fit into the computer as well as the non-DS lock does (I use that one for a different laptop).
Still, it works fine and that's what matters.

Kensington MicroSaver Lock,

Used this product on a cruise late August 2010 to secure MacBook Pro (mid 2010) to a desk in our cabin. Picture is included above in "customer images." It takes a while to insert end into the Mac as one must align a few items on the locking end of the cable. Once attached and locked, the head of the locking unit rotates a full 360 degrees to enable SuperDrive use. The cable appears to be sturdy and key can be easily carried or concealed once removed from locking unit. Cable cutters are unlikely to be allowed through embarkation security, but the correct "industrial strength" tool could probably cut the cable. It IS a deterrent to snatch and run thieves, however, which, while passing our cabin, could take but a few steps to get to the computer while the cabin steward was distracted.
