Very unreliable, avoid !,

I purchased this for my boyfriend's laptop after my cat chewed the original power adapter for it. It worked fine for about 6 months.
The day before we were to depart on a trip to Vietnam, the power dapter failed. I didn't have time to deal with Kensington, and it was too late to return it to the store, so I did something admittedly unethical - I went back to the store where I bought it, purchased another one, and returned the failed adapter, since the box didn't have the serial number. The second adapter worked OK, but only for about 8 months. I haven't bothered getting it fixed yet. I would suggest you don't waste your time with this one.

I've had the product for several weeks, and I haven't had a problem with it. There are many attachments to choose from, and it was easy to choose the one I needed. Only complaint: the cord which plugs into the wall outlet is short. I'm using my old one (since there was nothing wrong with it), and it works fine. Good Luck!

My 90W Dell laptop power adapter was cold dead. I replaced it with the Kensington adapter which not only works as good as the original one, but runs much cooler. I would buy it again if I have to.

so I agree that it seems pricey for a power cord, but in the end as the other review also states this is you best bet (like it or not). prior to purchasing this item i bought into the hype of the $15-$20 power cord replacement from less reputable sources and figured "hey, these full price cords are just a scam". but i got it backwards.
the cheap power cord lasted me 2 months (during which it worked perfect and i thought it was great and was psyched) before it started working sporadically and then just stopped being recognized by my computer entirely. so i was now out $20 bucks and could have sent it back for $10 shipping and may or may not have received a replacement in exchange (that might again only work another 2 months) on which i'd have to pay $10 more shipping again and then have a crappy power cord that could break any day and be out $40 bucks or could have just paid to buy this Kensington replacement, shipped w/ Amazon, and known it was going to work and i wouldn't have to worry about this problem any more. like i said, the better bet. so it sucks, but there is a reason your computer manufacturer changes $65 - $75 for a replacement cord that fits their computer and a reputable 3rd party like Kensington charges something close to similar for a universal one - because that's what it costs, although unfortunate. anyway, this Kensington took no instruction reading (it was pretty obvious what to do), worked immediately and has continued to do so for my computer, and also will be transferable should i buy another computer of a similar or different brand. so in the end i think i have to give it 5 stars, it is what it is - a quality product at the going rate, try to beat it at your own risk, and you may find yourself buying it anyway in the end like me. UPDATE: 2 YEARS LATER AND STILL USING THIS CORD

This adapter is almost half the price of the one on HP's homepage and it's build quality is far superior. I went through 2 HP adapters in less than a year, mostly due to the weak joint where the transformer pack meets the cable that plugs into the computer. This Kensington adapter has a piece of plastic covering that joint so that type of wear can't occur. Also, the dongle adapter with the Kensington is far superior to the HP. The HP dongles fall off constantly and are very easy to loose while the Kensington seems to fit snuggly. This product is not perfect but it is WAY better than the comparable product offered by HP.

I have another power adapter that is identical to this one that I purchased at Circuit City before it went "belly-up". I really like this adapter and when I thought it was wearing out, I purchased this one which I like just as much.
Unfortunately, it turns out that it's the computer that is acting up, not the adapter. In the meantime, this adapter is working quite well.

I needed a new power cord for my dell 700m. I also had a toshiba laptop that did not work, I am not sure why(I thought it was the power supply) It works well on my dell and is very easy to use. I have no big issues at all.
Some flaws -wish the power cord was longer, like other users said, its kinda short -caused a burning smell on the toshiba laptop, it can be many things, so just a heads up -there is a low humming noise coming out of the power adapter, just a slight annoyance

For those of you who are familiar with the OEM power adapter failure rate, this one can be a small miracle, especially if you own more than one notebook. While it's hardly the sturdiest, most robust piece of computer equipment on the market, it's a lot cheaper than a replacement from the notebook's manufacturer, sometimes by 60 dollars depending on the requirement. It's easy to set up, easy to use (plug it in and go once you have the right tip on), and seems to work well enough.
Other reviews have mentioned unreliability, but thus far mine hasn't had any problems. The only complaint I have is the difficulty switching the voltage settings; the "safety" pin is a little too hard to disengage to change voltage ranges.

I use this to power my HP tablet and my Sony Vaio without having to buy the expensive OEM Adapters. Just change the plugs to fit the laptop and you're good to go.

Warning: Poor Support At Kensington,
This review is from: Kensington Wall Notebook Power Adapter K33404US (Personal Computers)
Kensington does not supply power cords. If you ever lose the $2 cord, the whole thing is toast. Targus sells replacement parts for all of their stuff and most of it is similar or has the same OEM.
