4.0 out of 5 stars Good
Very good gadget. The only thing missing is the Backspace key. But the two extra USB are good, although they are not USB 2.0.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beware OS X users!
Seems like a fine item, very affordable, and might perhaps work well on most systems... but while it says it's compatible with Mac systems above OS 8.6, it wouldn't interface properly with my OS X Powerbook. I contacted customer service to see whether I was perhaps just not setting it up properly, but after some trying of various strategies, customer service sent me an...

Seems like a fine item, very affordable, and might perhaps work well on most systems... but while it says it's compatible with Mac systems above OS 8.6, it wouldn't interface properly with my OS X Powerbook. I contacted customer service to see whether I was perhaps just not setting it up properly, but after some trying of various strategies, customer service sent me an email saying that the device was just not compatible with my system. It does seem like the cheapest keypad for the buck, but I do wish they'd advertise more thoroughly about their compatibility.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice Design, Flawed Implementation, September 25, 2006
This review is from: Kensington Pocket KeyPad with 2-Port USB Hub (Personal Computers)
I picked one of these up for use with a 3D Design package, which makes use of the numeric keypad for special functions. Unfortunately, while the Pocket Keypad does work well for typing in numbers or cursor keys, it doesn't actually simulate the numeric keypad correctly. For applications that need to be able to distinguish between the numbers on the top row of the keyboard versus the numbers on the keypad, this device did not work. I wasted a couple hours trying to debug the setup before giving up and buying a different USB keypad (the Targus AKP01US) and finding it was the Kensington that was the problem.

Too bad, because otherwise it's a nice-looking, compact, and good-feeling unit. It just doesn't work right for my specialized application (a 3D package called Blender)

5.0 out of 5 stars Nifty little item., January 3, 2007
This review is from: Kensington Pocket KeyPad with 2-Port USB Hub (Personal Computers)
I have a 12' notebook and just hate fumbling through number keys as I am used to using a calculator and the number keypad on my keyboard. The attachable keypad speeds the numbering process up especially when creating documents in Excel. It also has two additional ports. Great little device!

2.0 out of 5 stars Good design but doesn't work with my laptop, January 21, 2007
This review is from: Kensington Pocket KeyPad with 2-Port USB Hub (Personal Computers)
I purchased this numeric keypad because it had a standard layout like conventional desktop numeric keypads. To be specific, it has a single, large 0/Insert key where others add the "000" key between the Enter and 0/Insert key. However, the moment that I plug it into my HP/Compaq laptop (running Windows XP Pro), it triggers an overload alert and the USB port is immediately disabled. No workaround.

Using this for my wife's laptop, she ran out of usb's and also was tired of not having a numpad.

This a nice item, compact...well made.

I just inserted into USB port on my MAC PB laptop OS10.4 and it was that simple.

Works GREAT! I like the familiar keyboard--like the 10-key. Only more more thing I would like is a backspace key. Especially like 2 additional USB ports.
