4.0 out of 5 stars Kensington USB Port locks, August 11, 2009
This review is from: Kensington USB Port Lock with Blockers, K67718US (Electronics)
Being an IT manager and obsessed with security, I am still amazed that the inherent security issues of USB ports on networked workstations are apparently universally ignored by the PC vendor sector. I've tried blocking software, found it to be difficult and ineffective. I used to disable USB ports on all deployed workstations; now, of course, many workstations ship w/out PS2 ports. Memory sticks are practically free and of huge capacity.
Kensington Pluses: effective, easily deployed, relatively inexpensive, universally applicable so far.
Minuses: hard to locate at retail (not avail. on Kensington's own site!), commonly keyed, additional locks/plates aren't avail separately in quantity, cable guards impossible to find.
So...good idea, but poor vendor support and distribution. Get out the Crazy Glue...
