Product Description

Cleaner sound through your car stereo. The only humming inside your car will be yours thanks to the Kensington Noise-Reducing AUX Audio Cable. The direct AUX (auxiliary) connection and noise reducing technology combine to deliver clear, clean sound through your car’s stereo.

Amazon.com

Have you tried using a phone connecting cable in your car for your MP3 player or SmartPhone and been bothered by a "hum" that accompanies the sound?  The best way to avoid that bothersome humming is to connect directly into your car's AUX port so you get pure sound without interference from the car's electrical system.  The Kensington Noise Reducing Car Audio AUX Cable lets you do that easily and efficiently.

The direct AUX connection and noise reducing technology of the Kensington AUX Audio Cable combine to deliver clear, clean sound through your car's stereo.  The 4 foot long, 3.5mm audio cable is braided for long term durability and to keep it from tangling.  The cable plugs into your car's AUX port and into the headphone jack of your portable device.  And you're in business.  The only humming you'll hear will be your own!

Note: Your car must be equipped with an auxiliary port (most newer models are) and your device must come with a 3.5 mm headset jack.

My 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid had terrible problem with ground loop noise. It was unbearable that when I play music through the Aux jack while having the charger plugged in (any devices). There were "weeeezing" noises that drowned the music. I had to unplug my devices from the charger if I wanted to listen to clear music. This Kensington Noise Reducing device works wonder. 100% of the noise was gone. I hear no trace of ground loop noise playing music while charging my devices! The length of the cable is plenty for me. Well worth the money!

Does what it claims, if you hear hissing or feedback when running your iPod (or, I presume, any other audio device) through your aux jack this should clear it up. In my case I use a Kensington LiquidAux running into a cassette adapter (my car predates aux jacks). I listen mainly to audiobooks and had an issue with clipping and distortion of the spoken high frequencies. Once I installed this between the cassette adapter and the LiquidAux, the problem disappeared. I also like the braided cord better than the usual plastic/vinyl cord you see, it feels sturdier.

The only thing I would change is the length of the cord. I chose this device over the competing product by Griffin because the cord was 2' shorter - and even the 4' cord of this device is overkill for my setup. I have about 3' of extra cord coiled up inside my console. Of course depending on your situation maybe you need the extra cord, but I didn't. The other thing to remember is that you will likely need at least one 1/8" adapter (I needed 2, because of the cassette adapter) in order to plug this device into a LiquidAux or similar system. If you don't buy the adapters here, try Radio Shack.

Sounds awful - huge loss of high frequencies. Rather than return it, for $15 I figured I'd just cut it apart (see picture in Amazon gallery for the product), pull out the guts, and put a proper filter in it (I'm an electrical engineer, so I'm lucky I can do that). Cheap low-quality transformers in it, so I'm not surprised it sounds so bad. Yes, it got rid of the high-frequency squeal that happened when I plugged my new Galaxy S4 phone into my BMW's Aux port using a regular cable, but the significant loss of fidelity is not worth it.

I purchased this product in August because I got sick of the humming from my stereo when I was charging my iPhone 4. This cord ABSOLUTELY eliminated ANY and ALL noise created by my car stereo. BUT, the plug had been coming loose from the cord on the smaller end of the cord for the last week or two, but I hadn't much noticed it. Well, the cord stopped working yesterday. Overall, I really wish I had kept shopping for a different product because this product just isn't very durable.

UPDATE (2/18/11): On a lark I contacted Kensington Customer Support and they are sending me a new cord to replace the defective unit that I purchased previously.

I bought this cable to eliminate the whine heard on my portable XM receiver and my iPhone 4S. The product worked great on my XM receiver, but reduced the iPhone volume by 60%. When I increased the volume on my car radio to compensate, the whine returned.

I hesitated to spend this much on a cable. Everyone knows a cable is a cable is cable. HOWEVER, in this case, the extra $$ is definitely worth it. I've had about five different 3.5mm to 3.5mm cables - none of which I've paid over $3. I've used them all in the car with my MP3 player connected to car stereo system. They all required turning DOWN the MP3 player to reduce the hum from the player to the stereo, and then turning UP the stereo system to almost maximum level. And even then there was some humming / buzzing.

This clever device allows me to play the MP3 player at full volume, and the stereo at only level 11 or 12. This is the same level I play the radio or CDs. There is no buzzing, or humming audible. I have a Hyundai Santa Fe which isn't the quietest vehicle in the world, but we made an over 800 mile trip with this cable and not once had to go ove 13 in volume to hear the stereo well. And actually when we hit good patches of road, we were able to hear comfortably at about 9.

The construction seems much better than the cheaper cables too. The cord is a braided fabric which is far more flexible than the plastic on every other cable of this type. I would think over time this is not going to become rigid as most cables do.

I am extremely pleased and would recommend this to anyone who might need it. I'm anxious to try this at work too. I wonder if it will shield the buzzing I get when my Blackberry is near my MP3 player.

Used this cable to connect my iPhone to the Aux jack in my BMW and now background noise. Regular cables had interference from the car. Works as it should.

I was having a problem with a ground loop in my car, a 2006 MINI Cooper. The headunit in this car will not recognize many devices plugged into the AUX input when they are charged through the cigarette lighter, because of the ground loop. Others have suggested ground loop isolator circuits, but most of the ones I found were rather large and bulky. This item fixed the problem for me and is a well made product.

The cable is sleeved, works plugged in either direction, and has two different plugs, a smaller more discreet one (I'm glad that they did this) and a larger one that can go into the headunit. At 4 feet, the cable is long enough for me to hide inside the dash of my car and only have as much cable showing as I need to.

I do not notice any change in sound quality using this product. I didn't have any whine or noise passing through my aux line as it was, but my sound is no more colored or discolored from what it was before.

I bought through spacetoshop, item was received on monday after ordering thursday, and although it's somewhat pricey for a cable, it is a quality, well thought out product.
