A good idea, but...., November 26, 2004
This review is from: Kensington Studio Wireless Optical Mouse (64337) (Personal Computers)
I initially liked this mouse, but there were some problems that finally caused me to put it away in a drawer and go back to my Logitech wireless wheel mouse.
Pros:
1. Very comfortable in the hand
2. Rechargeable batteries
3. Scroll pad is a great idea, but needs some work (see below)
4. Good software
Cons:
1. The first problem right out of the box is one of the default settings of the software. The default setting for the button just behind the scroll pad is set by default to switch between scrolling up and down to scrolling right and left. It is very easy to accidentally hit this button and change the scrolling to right and left without realizing it. If you're not familiar with this mouse it then seems that scrolling has quit working. Of course, once you figure out what has happened it's no problem.
2. The scroll pad is a great idea and very nice to use. However, the "fast scrolling" portions of the scrolling pad are at the front and back of the pad and not separated from it. This makes it easy to accidentally touch these "fast scrooling" areas instead of the "normal" scrolling area. These "fast scrolling" areas should be separated from the "norma;l" scrolling area by some sort of small plastic ridge.
3. It frequently seems that the mouse clicks are not transmitted and you have to repeat them
It's too b ad that these proiblems exist, beause this mouse is very nice to use otherwise.

Great Wireless Mouse, May 13, 2011
This review is from: Kensington Studio Wireless Optical Mouse (64337) (Personal Computers)
I'm not sure if this particular mouse is still being manufactured but I think it's a great mouse. I had another one that I wore out...it took several years of heavy use but it finally gave up the ghost. I was very happy to find another one...and at a bargain price so low that it felt like a gift. If you are looking for a very good mouse that offers lots of options; one that works well on all kinds of surfaces...even your pants leg, then grab one of these if you can find one. I have used a variety of Kensington mice and trac-balls and have never been disappointed with any of them.

Three years so far...., April 18, 2007
This review is from: Kensington Studio Wireless Optical Mouse (64337) (Personal Computers)
And I can't say it's been a glitch free three years but it's not that bad of a mouse. Once I figured out what the lights on the base station meant (is it charging when that light blinks or what????) and downloaded the MouseWorks software to fine tune things it has been a pretty decent mouse.
I love the scroll pad waaaaaaaay more than the clickity-ratchety feeling scroll wheels on most every other mouse. Plus it's nice to have a right click on my Macs without having to push a modifier key on the keyboard. The horizontal scrolling is another nice feature. Too bad half of the apps I use at the office don't seem to support it.
I didn't buy the one at the office (rescued it from a disgruntled user who has barely enough brain power to breathe) but I liked it well enough to plunk down my own cash for at home.
The only thing I wish were different about it is the rat-tail connector for the power supply. Very cumbersome to say the least. Now if Kensington would make this same mouse with Bluetooth, I would be buying one for every computer in the house and office.
