Some shortcomings to consider,
By Good Behavior (Louisville, Kentucky) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kensington Underdesk Comfort Keyboard Drawer with SmartFit System, Extra Wide, Includes Wrist Rest (K60004US) (Office Product)
As basic keyboard drawers go, this one is certainly adequate -- but no more. It's relatively sturdy, operates smoothly and installs fairly easily. But it does have some shortcomings to consider.
1. The space for your mouse is very small. If you need to move the cursor from one side of the screen to the other, there just isn't enough room move your mouse in that big of an arc. 2. The drawer does not lock into position. If you bump it with your stomach, it will move in, which can be annoying. 3. I wish it had a bigger range of height adjustment. The full range is only an inch and a half. In practical terms it's even less, because at its upper limit (closest to the desk bottom), there wouldn't be room for the mouse.

Simple to install and does the trick,

I was looking for a simple, inexpensive keyboard tray to use with a bookcase and desk I recently built in my office. This was exactly what I was looking for. It has four settings you can use during install that allow you to customize how far down the tray hangs from the desktop. It's wide (27 inches) so there's enough room for your keyboard and mouse. Best of all, there's no "bounce" when you have it estended for use. It's solid. It comes with a wrist rest and mouse pad. The only issue I had was the picture showed it being white but the tray I got was black. I can live with that.

Item is nice, dimensions are misleading,
This review is from: Kensington Underdesk Comfort Keyboard Drawer with SmartFit System, Extra Wide, Includes Wrist Rest (K60004US) (Office Product)
The keyboard drawer seemed to be of good quality but beware- the dimension listed of 26 inches is only talking about the tray. My desk required the tray to fit in a 27.5 inch spot and this keyboard tray is too big. You have to allot for at least 3 inches for mounting the tray.

We have about 25 of these drawers at my office, and have had most of them for several (3+) years. Most of them have cracked in the center as the build quality is quite flimsy. Also, the ends of the side rails are very sharp and over time have led to some ripped pants and socks of employees attempting to cross their legs while at work. I've also cut my scalp several times on the rails while reconnecting PCs underneath people's desks.
Other issues: The mouse area is far too small unless you work with an extremely sensitive mouse and only need about an inch of movement. Keyboards tend to slide quite a bit on the slick surface. The mouse pads and wrist rests provided are too slippery and do not stay in place, which especially makes the mouse pad useless. The tray bounces and slides back under the desk with even a minimal amount of force. A few have stood the test of time, but most have been held together by the ingenuity of employees who have moved their keyboards to their desks or with packaging and scotch tape to mend cracks. Several have been replaced by the same model more than once by a manager who doesn't think a keyboard tray should cost more than $50. Would be suitable for an occasional use area where a temporary keyboard tray is absolutely necessary and budget is tight, but for a high-use desk, it would be worth spending an extra $50 for a nicer drawer, or getting a desk with an integrated tray.

Sturdy keyboard tray,

I purchased this keyboard for my wife's desk and she hasn't had any problems with it. The keyboard's design provides firm support for resting your hand as you maneuver your mouse and glides smoothly along the metal ball-bearing tracks. The keyboard has 4 height positions to adjust for comfort. One note of caution, the height of the keyboard can only be set during the assembly of the product. Once the keyboard is installed under your desk surface you would have to uninstall the keyboard tray prior to readjusting the keyboard height position. Otherwise this is a solid product and a good value for the price. I give it 4 instead of 5 stars because of keyboard height adjustment method.

We bought three of these for our office, and have been using them for a month now. They are sturdy and functional, and we have no problems. I use mine with a standard keyboard, and there is 7 1/2 inches on the side to operate the mouse, and 6 inches of depth behind the keyboard to use for pencils, etc. You can adjust the height down to about 3 inches below the bottom surface of the desktop.
For installation purposes, you need a minimum of 26 1/8 inches of width, minimum, to install the drawer. But for that minimum width, you have to flare the mounting brackets inward, which makes screwing them to the underside of your desk a little awkward. For the easiest installation, you'd like a full 28 7/8 inches of width.

Kensington 60004 Under Desk Keyboard Drawer with Mouse Tray,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The dimensions were slightly misleading. The width listed only accounted for the actual tray, not the mounting brackets. The keyboard tray didn't fit correctly based off the width listed. Please allow for at least 2-4 inches extra per side when considering this product.

I made my own desk and I needed an under desk keyboard tray. I read other reviews on this product, so I thought it might work. When it was delivered, I tried to install it, but I thought it was flimsy and didn't slide well. Plus, I didn't like the way the side brackets showed when you stepped back from the desk. It just looks cheap. I ended up returning it and spending a little more money on a leather, under desk keyboard tray, which I love. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for!

Quality problems with the Kensington keyboard drawer!,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased the Kensington keyboard drawer for a new desktop computer installation. I needed this model as it was one of the wider drawers at an economical price. When it arrived, I was ready to install it, except the wrong and some missing screws and apparently wrong brackets were sent. The screws were the wrong length and the bracket holes didn't align properly with the drawer rails. I sent an email back to the third party vendor (Shopnet) and they agreed to send a new one, but I decided to keep it and bought new (metric) screws (cost $1.50) at my local Home Depot and modified the brackets by extending one hole with a drill. The keyboard drawer works satisfactory, and I'm happy with it, but I rated it lower due to their quality issues. I doubt if many users would do the modifications of what I did, but I couldn't wait for a replacement, plus what were the chances the second one had the same issues? ACCO and Kensington are supposedly the same keyboard using the same model numbers.

Plastic tray and metal screws = faulty design,
By Glen (NY, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kensington Underdesk Comfort Keyboard Drawer with SmartFit System, Extra Wide, Includes Wrist Rest (K60004US) (Office Product)
Buyer beware, you may receive a unit where the holes for the metal screws are so badly created in the plastic tray that the plastic will actually begin to split open when you begin to assemble the unit by attaching the screws. Such a major design flaw that I am returning the tray. Very disappointed, as this was the perfect size for my narrow desk and over-sized ergonomic keyboard.
