Planned obsolescence?,

I have the same problem - the tip of my Kensington adapter has failed. I'm more than a bit skeptical of Kensington's design seeing as there are apparently no moveable parts inside and the connections that failed are encased in half an inch of plastic. And now, 18 months after I bought the adapter, Kensington is selling a new, "improved" version with incompatible tips. Is this planned obsolescence? It is a plausible conclusion to draw, at least.

Can't get replacement parts,

I was happy with this product until I tried to replace my damaged tip. You'd think that with an item that came in so many pieces this would be a simple thing to buy. But the tips I found for sale said they weren't available yet and I wasn't even sure they would fit this exact product.SO, I sent a message to Kensington support. After giving them every bit of information I had - and I had the original packaging material and manual - they said they'd send me a tip (no charge) Over a month later I let them know I hadn't received anything and they apologized and Fed Ex'd me the wrong tip. I tried to tell them this, but my message bounced and there was no paperwork in the Fed Ex pack. A week later I received a second one - also with no paperwork. So now I have two tips that don't fit the adaptor. (the problem is that they switched the design. The tip fits into my PowerBook, but does not fit their product (it's a different shape and pin count) Part of what I sent them: "KENSINGTON AC/AUTO/AIR ADAPTER (T9178LL/A) (that's from the paper work that came with the adaptor) K33079 Is the "model number from the adaptor.
