3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great
This keyboard has a lot of neat features, but they usually end up coming short. First is the mouse, it has a docking station on the keyboard so it doesn't die really quick, the problem is getting it to dock. Its not that it can't be done, it just takes a while to find the docks "sweet spot". Also note that the mouse has to be within about 3 feet of the usb transmitter...

This keyboard has a lot of neat features, but they usually end up coming short. First is the mouse, it has a docking station on the keyboard so it doesn't die really quick, the problem is getting it to dock. Its not that it can't be done, it just takes a while to find the docks "sweet spot". Also note that the mouse has to be within about 3 feet of the usb transmitter to work right, don't plan on sitting far away (there is an included usb extension!). Then there's the keyboard itself. The keyboard is great for everyday use and the slim design is really pleasing to the eye. Do not try to game with this keyboard though! The arrow keys are kind of cheap. The strangest thing about this keyboard is the picture frame underneath it... why is it there? It doesn't detract from the keyboard, its just strange though. Overall this set is worth the money if you sit close to your computer and don't plan on gaming. I would give it 3.5/5 if it was an option.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wireless connection spotty, September 11, 2009
This review is from: Kensington Ci70 Wireless Desktop Set with Keyboard and Mouse (K64392US) (Personal Computers)
I read the prior reviews before purchasing this keyboard. Although some folks mentioned that the keyboard looses connection, I thought maybe it was isolated to their own hardware issues. Unfortunately, I have the same problem now. I purchased the keyboard/mouse for work 4 months ago and there is nothing more frustrating than trying to fire off emails and have your keys not function. To fix it I need to remove the USB antenna and reinsert it into my laptop.
If you are comfortable plugging in the antennae 4-5 times a day this is the keyboard for you. Aside from this, everything else about the keyboard and mouse is great.

I remain disappointed that I need to go back and shop for a new wireless keyboard and mouse. I do love the layout, low profile and responsiveness (when it's working).

1.0 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE - NO RANGE PAST 4 ft, December 9, 2011

This review is from: Kensington Ci70 Wireless Desktop Set with Keyboard and Mouse (K64392US) (Personal Computers)
I bought this for my TV/Couch setup and the range is pathetic, and dropped out at 4ft. Do not buy unless you are using this extremely close to your PC/Mac.

I tested my wife's Kensington wireless keyboard on my computer and liked the feel and operation. But the one I bought is an utter disappointment. The mouse wobbles, doesn't sit flat on the desk. The culprit was the cover for the batteries. I removed it and the mouse is fine now, except that it is overly sensitive. It is hard to put the cursor in the desired place. And the keyboard double types characters constantly. The problem slows down and already snail-like typist. I'm really bummed about this, and will now have to eat my investment when I buy a new brand to replace this one.

This set is great with only one drawback, the working range of the mouse and keyboard is about 3 feet. Other than that, it is alright. As usual, my Amazon transaction went smoothly, and shipped fast.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good keyboard, but has connectivity issues, June 26, 2010

Smooth, soft touch, silent keys. Helps you type reeealllly fast, unlike some other keyboards that slow you down and tire your fingers at the end of a day's work. It has connectivity issues - when the battery is not optimum or when there are obstructions between the keyboard and the wireless adapter. If the distance between the two increases, then the typing is a little unpredictable and you start seeing extra letterssssss appear when you type. All in all, with some patience and proper placement, its a joy.

I own a macbook and a windows notebook. I wanted something that can work on both of them, flawlessly. And, the Kensington ci70 works just like i wanted it to.
The Keyboard/Mouse work out of the box. just plug-in the wireless transmitter to the USB port of your computer/notebook and you are ready to go.
Windows, the KB and the Mouse work instantly. On my MacbookPro, I had to configure only the Keyboard (which took about 15 sec)
It is really comfortable to use. The mouse is a dream! There is also an extension cable for the USB transmitter, just in case your desktop is way back under your desk (great utility)
Power save feature is also pretty neat. All in all, an excellent choice and for the price, it's bang for the buck

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible, terrible, and absolutely terrible., January 19, 2010

This product has one (and only one) saving grace: it's quite pretty. It looks very chic next to my black laptop and my black monitor. Other than that, there is absolutely no reason to buy this.

Within one month after I purchased this set, the mouse started misbehaving. It would fail to turn itself on after I pulled it out of the (cheap and poorly designed) slot on the keyboard, and I would have to shake it to get it to activate. I'm amazed that in 2010 we still have to resort to shaking our electronics to get them to work. I felt like I was 8 years old and blowing on Nintendo cartridges again.

The mouse completely stopped working four months later. There is a small, grain-sized switch on the bottom of the mouse that activates it. Somehow, the switch had gotten lodged inside the casing of the mouse, which means it can never be activated. The casing of the mouse is fused together, so I couldn't even open it up to fix the switch. Long story short -- mouse is completely useless.

I continued to use the keyboard for a few more months. In its defense, the keyboard is very decent. For how slim it is, it's very typeable and feels like a high-quality laptop keyboard. The problem is the wireless range--it's ridiculously short. At times I literally had to have the wireless dongle inches away from the keyboard to make it work, and even then it was temperamental. Sometimes it needed to be 6" away from the dongle, sometimes 3", sometimes less than an inch -- it was completely unpredictable. Even when it did work, the wireless would flake out, causing certain keystrokes to be "dropped." Imagine typing up a 20 page report to find that every 20th letter didn't type. FRUSTRATING.

This product is useless, worthless, and a complete waste of plastic. There is no excuse for any company to make such a terrible keyboard and mouse. This is not my first poor experience with a Kensington product, but it will be my last. I will never spend a dime on Kensington again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buy some other keyboard, because this one will piss you off, January 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kensington Ci70 Wireless Desktop Set with Keyboard and Mouse (K64392US) (Personal Computers)
The mouse is crappy, both mouse and keyboard drain batteries really fast. Signal strength is horrible. If you don't see the usb receiver, there is a good chance your keyboard and mouse is not sync with the computer. No sync buttons. This product totally a cons!!!!

After using this set at work, I loved it so much that I bought a set for myself. It is a perfect fit for me and I would recommend it highly.
