The one we bought has trouble reading discs and we frequently get a disc error message. Usually we can get the thing to play if we open and close the drawer enough times. The last DVD we tried to play it would not recognize at all. We've had it less than a year but we're fed up and going to replace it. It's very pretty and slim, however . . .

I bought this unit to replace an old CD player which had given up the ghost. I took a look at what was around - I don't want a 200-CD jukebox - just a simple player. This thing was really inexpensive and since I've had Kenwood equipment for about 15 years, I thought I could trust the brand. Even though it is listed as a CD/DVD player, this unit however didn't recognize most of the CDs I put in, showing the message "Disc Error". One CD played for about a minute, then ejected itself, then wouldn't play at all. I took it back to the store and tried another one, but had the same problem. The guy tried to sell me a much more expensive player, but this experience put me off Kenwood. I got my money back.

I received the Kenwood DVF 3080 as a gift in Dec 05. The player was part of a home theater system with Bose speakers and a tuner. The DVD player worked great for several months (we just played movies, no music or picture CDs). It began to skip and pause at random times, then it would not load a disc and play. I tried cleaning the lenses with a special disc that was recommended by the Kenwood customer service people, that didn't help. We are going to try to get the player serviced since it is still under warranty, if we can come up with proof of purchase.
