Now, I will start off saying if you want a high intense bass amp then spend 1k for an amp. for the money this amp rocks! I have it hooked up to 2 10" Polk Audio Momo subs and it sounds great. I have heard some people same that cheaper sub amps go into protect mode often. This amp has never cut off. I ran this all of this summer in a truck with no A/C in the south every day and cannot believe how cool it is to the touch! I have set the main level knob on the amp at around 11 o'clock and it does quite well. One of my workmates (a car audio freak) has listened to my setup and said I should enter it into a contest. I'm a litte too old for this (grin-grin). One last thing, spend most of you $$$ on good speakers and less on the amp. Your system will sound better then the other way around.

Amp was in perfect shape. Works great with 2 mtx subs wired in parallel for a 2ohm load. Not over the top at all.

Kenwood has always made quality products and this amp seams to follow suit. The class D is a nice touch so it won't drain your electrical system. It gives you alot of control over the bass with a subsonic filter and it has speaker level sensing so you don't have to run a remote turn on wire unless you use RCA cables. I have not had any problems with overheating so far. The quality build and reasonable price makes this amplifier YODA approved.

I bought this used for $55.00 and for the money I can't complain one bit, I have it powering a single JL Audio 10w1v2 subwoofer in a sealed enclosure in a Scion TC. More than enough power @ 4ohms with a single sub in a small car. With the hatchback being open area I very seldom turn the gain control remote knob past the 1/2 mark as it's too much base and power inside the small car. I have run it hard for over an hour sitting in the car in the driveway and the amp has not overheated or gone into protected mode. It does get pretty warm but not so hot that you can't touch it. I am picking up a crossflow fan to help cool it as with any electronics the cooler you run it the longer it usually lasts. Anyway for the money you can't go wrong with this one. If your putting it in a trunk then I would definitely recommend a fan regardless of what amp your using.

I have this amp on two kicker 12s wired at 2ohms. It slams them but goes into saftey mode ALOT when slammin, dont get me wrong its a good amp for the money but if your planning on slammin some bass then dont get it.

If your planning to drive your bass then I definitely recommend going with a mono amp. This one does it very well!
I've had this amp driving my Polk Audio DB1212 (see my review on that product) for the last 2 years and it has performed flawlessly. Highly recommended!!

I was getting (and now have) a Kenwood head unit because I wanted the feature that allows you to measure your acceleration with the radio. I tried to get my other stuff from Kenwood also. I found that the amp, speakers, subwoofer and box all worked very well together, which is what I wanted.
I also found the prices to be reasonable. I think the Kenwood equipment, including the amp, were a very good value and I am still pleased with my purchase over 6 months later. |
