Unfortunately the issue with playing audio from your iPod through a Kenwood DDX371 is not a question of PURCHASING THIS CABLE. Rather it is knowing how to set up your Kenwood unit.

I can definitely play audio from my iPod with a regular garden-variety iPod cable hooked up to the Kenwood DDX371. It just requires some simple configuration:
1. Put your unit in Standby Mode ('Menu' -> 'Standby Mode' )
2. Go to Settings->Input and select 'AV1' (or 'AV2' whichever is available to you) instead of the 'iPod' setting.
3. Go to 'All Source' and select 'AV1' (or 'AV2' whichever you set in step 2) and set the source as 'Aux'.

THAT'S IT. There's nothing further needed. Don't waste your money on any other cable than what you already have for the iPod. You certainly don't need THIS CABLE to hear audio AT ALL. I confirmed this with a Car Toys representative and got audio out of my iPod in FIVE SECONDS.

It's just a question of knowing how to set it up.

I don't know if this is on me or the product, but I can't get this thing to work. Maybe I did not read the documentation enough but no matter what I do, this thing won't work. I connect my iPhone 4s do my double DIN Kenwood head unit and while it shows that it is playing, shows the track info, lets me select through the playlists, and everything else, it WON'T play audio. Very frustrating....

This thing broke the first time I used it. Don't was your time and money on this piece of junk. I don't know why Kenwood has their name on it.

The Pod connector is wider than Apple standard and would not fit thru the pod protector. A little filing and all was well.

The wire shorted within 3 weeks of delivery. Also the casing of the connector that attached to my iphone would not stay sealed. The two halves of the plastic would actually come apart. This is the second Kenwood cord I have gone through, so this must not be just a fluke but an actual bad product. I've since switched to just using a regular white apple USB cable which sticks out more and doesn't look like a professionally installed product like this cord was supposed to. I couldn't have a worse opinion of this cable.

It didn't work with my kenwood stereo but it worked with my husband's other brand stereo. It was not a total loss. We are using it. Thank you.

This seems to be a really nice quality cable, however it will not allow my ipod or iphone to sync with my excellon. Perhaps its the wrong one. But the quality of the cable itself seems to be very very nice
