Awesome sound, but ugly/bulkly grills!,

I was totally shocked to ever find a 5-way 6x9, especially Kenwood. This speaker sounds awesome! Killer bass, great mids, crisp highs. The only thing I wasn't happy with is the grills. They are too bulky, very unsightly. In fact I replaced them with some 15 year old Kenwood grills I had in a box! Can't wait to get my Kenwood amp installed to see how these speakers do with some real power, but I believe they will perform as expected or better.

great bass from these speakers... they can also handle allot of watts and stay very clear with very little to no distortion... if you want all you can get from these speakers you will defiantly have to run them through an amp

Solid value. Definitely needs an amplifier,

These are solid replacement speakers over whatever stock 6 x 9s you might already be using in the rear. But they absolutely need an amplifier to bring out their potential. I first installed them and noticed that they didn't play as loud as my stock speakers. Of course they wouldn't. They are 4 ohm speakers (as opposed to the 2 ohm stock speakers in my 2001 Honda) and they are far more power hungry than the stock set.
Then I installed an Alpine PDX-4.100 and hooked them up to the Kenwoods. It just made a world of difference. Now they play extremely loud and clear with solid amounts of bass. I don't know if I really believe their spec about being able to go as low as 28 hZ, but there is reasonable thump. And for the price you can get them at, they are just a great deal.
